L.S. Shevshenko
and i remember sitting
at Wild Bill's
on a small flatbed truck
my mind
rolling into golden sprays of
barley and hops and
i closed these eyes
seeing God's breath
caressing all those fields
those golden oceans of sweetness.
she walked by
his and
mine
and in the background wuz rd's-
marine corp voice of
laughter
against the giggles of
some blond
and i remember
how naked she had been
beneath that dress
lacking all those
incidentals
so i asked if she still wuz
as i reached…
Later
a light moon glowed
in a field of blue sky
and the sun parted
glowing elsewhere's
leaving us all our madnesses
and i slid from the truck
to find
Sleeze in a shadow
and we grinned
to each other's thoughts knowing
of our pasts
of our pleasures
of our yrs
and her his walked up.
"I'LL WHIP BOTH
YER ASSES-
RIGHT HERE!
RIGHT NOW!"
everyone fell
silent as the moon
rose
and even rd's voice
wuz still
and Sleeze and i
looked, at him
standing in the light of the lamp
and i laid a hand
upon my brother's leather shoulder
and as i turned to dance
rd's voice was in the background
"knock-em out"
and from an umbra
I stepped
opening some eyes
in places
they were not meant to be.
