IN The DISTANCE
by L.S. Shevshenko

there must be something.
outside
are  the dogs that bark
as the dead try to walk
no one here, is alive
and the whole town is-
a ghost-in-waiting.
the needles stuck up
weep
and in each box
a rape unfolds.
in the distance
is something familiar
there is the distant horn
late at night
clacking as it barrels
longingly to
wherever it is bound
and the sky adjusts itself
to the intrusion
of a propellers spin.
everything is going somewhere
even these lines…

it must be bound for you.
