Lots of stuff going on these 3 months. We got settled into our new home and set about decorating. I decided to sponge paint nearly every room in the house. This was something I had never even tried but it was a lot of fun. I had been feeling pretty good health-wise too, until we went back down to where we used to live. We went to our granddaughter's 2nd birthday and both of us caught a cold. Mine lasted over 3 weeks. Right about the time I was ready to just die, I started feeling better. The cold seemed to settle in my chest and apparently thought it was a great place to hang out so it just stayed there. Larry got over his pretty fast.
My teeth started in again right about the time I caught the cold so I went back on the penicillian too. The infection was pretty bad this time, with my whole right side of my face swelling up. Well, lucky me, I broke out in a rash all over. I looked like a strawberry! And talk about itching. Holy moly, I scratched more than I ever did when I was on the combo. It was awful. I couldn't even sleep for the itching.
September was pretty uneventful, save for the cold and teeth troubles. We got the house all done and even got the back yard put in. Our yard is huge but now the doggies are happy campers. It has cut way down on the dust and dirt in the house now too. I had no liver related troubles, and no pain in the right side. I haven't had that pain in a long time, which makes me very happy!
October, my teeth blew up again. I finally got to a dentist here and got a different kind of antibiotic. I also got sick again. Funny that the anitbiotics don't seem to do diddly for these colds I get. Again it was settled in my chest but this time a sore throat went with it. I had a terrible cough with this one, that seemed to linger on for a long time. Of course, if I quit smoking it would help that I'm sure. Still no liver problems though. I have lost about 15 pounds, not being able to eat anything that is not soft.
My appt at USC
was a good one. I had another ultrasound and it seemed to look pretty good,
according to the lady who was doing it. She said I have a fatty liver,
which the last ultrasound showed. No nodules or cirrhosis though! GOOD
NEWS! As soon as the report comes in, I'll post it as well. I had to do
the cognitive tests again. I hate those. They aren't conducive to how the
brain fog really works. They should make us make a list of every single
thing we do in one day, then make us repeat it all back to them at an appointment.
THAT would show them how bad the short term memory problems are. I'll have
to suggest that! My labs looked ok too, except for my ALT. It took a big
ole jump from 65 in July to 100 now. For the first time in I don't know
when my platelets are in the normal range too. They did a viral load test
but it usually takes several weeks for them to get those results. I don't
guess it matters, because I know I have the stupid virus and how much really
doesn't say anything about how BAD or GOOD I'm doing. Still and all, I
like to know. My next appointment is in January 2002.
