Lab Results
Below are my blood
test results starting in December 1997 through December 1998. I have also
shown my Biopsy and Ultrasound results. Keep in mind that the ONLY
way they can tell liver damage is by biopsy at this time. An ultrasound
won't show the damage. Biopsies can be done well or badly, depending on
your Dr's experience. Find out all you can about them and how many your
Dr has performed. The more the better! Remember....it only hurts like heck
for a minute anyway!

My liver enzymes
were extremely high in December and January due partly to the fact that
I was still drinking at that time. I quit drinking on January 9. My first
visit with the Gastro was Jan. 10. I had the ultrasound in January. It
showed a 'normal hepatic liver'. No abnormalities showed up on the ultrasound.
I had a biopsy on February 17 which showed Fibrosis with bridging cirrhosis.
My enzymes and viral load did respond a bit to the Mono therapy but not
enough to continue. On to the Rebetron Combo Treatment!!

The Dr is checking
my CBC's every week at first to keep his eye on the White Blood Count.
As I get the results from continuing weeks they will be posted here. The
platelets took a big dive after the first week on the Rebetron. I
was also tested for HepB and am negative. I am now getting the vaccine
for HepB and have had the vaccine for HepA.
**Specialty Labs in Los Angeles does
the PCR tests.
