White House Hotel Restoration, 1999-2000
Inside the Tall East Wing Tower
The East Wing building is the most recent addition
to the White House resort complex, having been completed in 1927. The scene above is taken from a third-floor stateroom in the East Wing, looking out the window in the direction of the pool/patio and the Gulf of Mexico. From the same stateroom, we look out another window to the west for the interesting scene below, viewing alongside the front of the Hotel.

Both photos were taken during the daytime tour in mid-1999, before the Hotel exterior was scrubbed and sandblasted. Compare with later glimpses of the building as the D.A.M.C. follows the renovation project through the year 2000 and beyond!
