Below are the following terrorists and their networks. The one thing that is set in my mind is there is not only one terrorist group we are speaking of here. The main thing to remember here is that it will be a long haul, but also that there is no such thing as a non-state sponsored terrorist organization. If that were the case, terrorist groups would have no safe haven, no one to harbor them and no finances to back their cause.

With this in mind, take a look at the following terrorists and terror groups. These are the men, their states and networks that we are going to have to "smoke out and get on the run" that make up terrorism. The groups we will be taking on to destroy terrorism for good. Granted, it is a daunting task we all have, but my question to you is this: Isn't it dam well worth it?

The Taliban and The Mujahideen

Misc. Remarks: Ayman Al Zawahiri is a physician and the founder of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad. This organization opposes the secular Egyptian Government and seeks its overthrow through violent means. Al Zawahiri is believed to now serve as an advisor and doctor to Osama Bin Laden and is currently thought to be in Afghanistan. He has been indicted for his alleged role in the August 7, 1998, bombings of the U.S. Embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Nairobi, Kenya. Description: Egyptian Islamic extremist group active since the late 1970s. Appears to be divided into two factions: One led by Ayman al-Zawahiri--who currently is believed to be in Afghanistan and is a key leader in terrorist financier Usama Bin Ladin's new World Islamic Front-- Vanguards of Conquest (Talaa' al-Fateh) led by Ahmad Husayn Agiza. Abbud al-Zumar, leader of the original Jihad, is imprisoned in Egypt and recently joined the group's jailed spiritual leader, Shaykh Umar Abd al-Rahman, in a call for a "peaceful front." Primary goal is to overthrow the Egyptian Government and replace it with an Islamic state. Increasingly willing to target US interests in Egypt. Activities: Specializes in armed attacks against high-level Egyptian Government officials. The original Jihad was responsible for the assassination in 1981 of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat. Appears to concentrate on high-level, high-profile Egyptian Government officials, including cabinet ministers. Claimed responsibility for the attempted assassinations of Interior Minister Hassan al-Alfi in August 1993 and Prime Minister Atef Sedky in November 1993. Has not conducted an attack inside Egypt since 1993 and never has targeted foreign tourists there. Has threatened to retaliate against the United States, however, for its incarceration of Shaykh Umar Abd al-Rahman and, more recently, for the arrests of its members in Albania, Azerbaijan, and the United Kingdom. Strength: Not known, but probably several thousand hardcore members and another several thousand sympathizers among the various factions. Location/Area of Operation: Operates in the Cairo area. Has a network outside Egypt, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, the United Kingdom, and Sudan. External Aid: Not known. The Egyptian Government claims that Iran, Sudan, and militant Islamic groups in Afghanistan--including Usama Bin Ladin--support the Jihad factions. Also may obtain some funding through various Islamic nongovernmental organizations.
MULLAH MOHAMED OMAR Taliban Supreme Leader Known by his title as "Commander of the Faithful" (Amir ul-Mu'mineen), the Taliban supreme leader is a reclusive figure about whom very little is known. He rarely leaves his stronghold of Kandahar in southern Afghanistan - he is reported to have visited the country's capital, Kabul, just once. Many journalists tried to meet Mullah Omar and interview him, but very few succeeded, and Mullah Omar never allowed his voice to be recorded. Mullah Omar has also never consented to any meetings with non-Muslims or to be photographed, (The above photo being one of the few known). The Taleban authorities have banned the photographing of living objects as non-Muslim. Mullah Omar, the most powerful of the Taleban leaders, is based in the southern city of Kandahar and has only once visited the capital, Kabul, since its capture by Taleban forces in 1995. The Taliban is based in Afghanistan and is the heart of terrorism as a whole. Mullah Tells Osama to Launch Biological Warfare Against the Non-Muslims LONDON: A fanatical British mullah, Omar Bakri Muhammad recently wrote to the notorious Islamic terrorist, Osama Bin Laden and told him to use biological weapons against the infidels or non-Muslims. Omar wrote to Laden: "aim your weapons at occupying forces... may Allah protect you and grant you victory."
