is the head of Security/Tactical and is
the third in command for Voyager. He has essentially
had two Starfleet careers. When he was in his twenties
he joined because of pressure by his parents. He had a
difficult time in the Academy and at his first assignment as
a Science Officer on the Excelsior under Captain Sulu.
He resigned from Starfleet after a short time and went
back to Vulcan to be in solitude.
During this time he got married to T'Pel, his wife of 67 years,
and raised a family of three sons and a daughter. Tuvok taught
archery science at the Vulcan Institute of Defensive Arts. After
raising his children he decided to go back to Starfleet. Tuvok is
on Voyager nearly eighty years after serving on the Excelsior.
As a Security Officer he is trained in the martial arts of many
Alpha Quadrant cultures. He performs the investigations of any
crimes that happen on Voyager, including using his ability to
mindmeld if necessary.
Vulcans are known for long lifespans, and Tuvok is roughly 109
years old. He doesn't like chatting with people and often sits and
reads alone.
He enjoys playing his lute and does sing. Tuvok excels at pool and
the card game gin. He grows orchids, which are his favorite flower,
and in the Alpha Quadrant was a breeder of prized Vulcan orchids.
Suder named a new hybrid he created the Tuvok Orchid, which was
an honor for Tuvok.
