As I pondered the steps of my downtown slummish apartment *and to the fact, it was very junky*, I accumulated a certain feeling that I had never expierienced before. *Butterflies* I thought. It was the souvlaki I had eaten earlier with HT while touring Seacouver with him. I rammed the brass key mercilessly into the rusted lock of my apartment door while fumbling with the knob. It let out a creaking sigh and gave-way. As the door swung open I sighed. Simply looking apon my dirt and soild cloth en-crusted room made my stomach turn. It was then I noticed the brightness of dusk was becoming dimmer by the minute. Night. I threw my carry-purse mindlessly atop my cot-like bed and scampered for the shower. I was feeling grimy from even being in this apartment! But, seeing I was low on the green it was the best I could afford.
Undressed and in the shower, I turned the valve labeled "HOT". The first spike of cold water against my back made me recoil to a moldy corner. I let out a terrified yelp and jumped out of the shower-cell. *Great..* I thought. This place was making me wretch by the second. Peering through the semi-cracked mirror I noticed I was shivering. I threw on a "complimentary" bath-robe and scurried for the main room.
An hour later, still feeling completely miserable of missing out on a shower and dressed in my PJs *which consisted of a loose throw-on night shirt and CK flannel boxers*, I jumped on my bed. The creak of old springs echoed in my ears.
But that wasnt the only noise. I lifted my head to hear a little more clearly. Yes, there was some alien noise that was apparently coming from the hallway. Always being the adventerous one, I skipped off my bed quietly and rested my hands on the door knob.
Too late. The door opened for me as I was met face-to-neck with a tall, slender man. Startled, my mind was blank for a few moments. As reality popped back in I jumped back.
"Terribly sorry!" a voice popped out from no-where. Still glaring at the base of his neck, I replied"Can I help you?" My voice caught in my throat as I slowly glanced from a farther postion. He was wearing loose-fit jeans with a plain white t-shirt slung carelessly over his slightly-muscular torso. Then I slowly made my way up...the gall in his throat...his chin...his lips...his nose....his eyes--- "No, I'm sorry I was just looking for my apartment. Its a bloody maze inhere." That voice. I knew that voice. That clipped british accent if notwelsh.. With my mind asunder, a series of pictures ran through my head. Paul, Steven, Andrew, Bobby, Alex, Greg, Brett, David, Michael.. None of them fit this perfect image....
*I know this person. WHERE do I know this person??* I thought to myself. I could see I was stalling my answer a little long to make this man begin to worry, as his eyes softened and peered apon me...OH that wonderful glance. I felt like I was being bathed in sunshine. I forgot myself for a moment but then popped back to reality once again. "Uhm, thats okay.." my words merged into one jumbled sentance. I gave him a big corny smile as I closed the door on him, my eyes still blank and dotted with wonderment. As soon as the door clicked to a shut, the whole world and universe dawned on me. My eyes practically popped right out of my skull as my mouth hung wide open. "M--M--M--Methos!" I hacked out excitedly.
I spun around and ran---jamming my face right into the closed door. I moaned in pain and crumpled on the floor, arms and legs sprawled out. As the world began to blur, I could hear the faint drone of footsteps running towards me, the door opening, a face pushing itself into mine, lips moving....saying something...and then it went black.
~*~ With a groan my eyes opened a crack. The room was spinning around me, and almost involuntarily my hand shot to my head. The alarums went off. I let out a screaching yelp in pain. I was injured, obviously. Someone approached. It was then I realised I wasnt in my apartment. Rather, this one was nice, cozy. The warmth made me drowsey. My eyes regained their clarity and I glanced around. Methos was standing before me, obviously disturbed by seeing my yell of pain."Ae y' with me?"
He placed a hand on my bruised forhead. My whole body went numb. I couldnt feel any pain anymore. I darted upward, falling off of the bed and landing on my butt. I felt hot all over. I was so embarrased.. He jumped a little and came around to me quickly "That was quite a fall! Are you okay?"
"I--I'm allright.." I sounded like a screeching piece of metal going through a paper-shredder.He offered a palm. I blushed and held out a hand. He gripped it generously, and I was swung up, feeling light as a feather. But I gave in a little too much and, toppling over Methos, brought us both to the floor. I lay there, sprawled across his chest, taking in the sharp scent of after-shave...the heavy bellow of his breathing...his beating heart against my ear...
"Uhn.." he groaned painfully. I could see I was jabbing my elbow in his abdomen. Gathering my thoughts back to reality, I jumped off. I felt like scattering into a million tiny pieces and hiding in a little corner. I had to go somewhere...anywhere than from here..
"I....I'm sorry.." I practically cried out. I sprinted for the door. Bang. I rammed my body into it again. *Three times a charm!* my concience reminded me how stupid I probably looked. I fell back, startled, and landed on the floor. This was too much. I coiled into a little ball, my legs grappled and connected to my chest by my arms, as I buried my face into my little cove of limbs. It was then i began to cry. A warmth surrounded me as Methos kneeled before me. I did not lift my head, thinking that if I did I would surely burst out in an uncontrollable wail of "I'm sorrys" and "I hate myself".
A firm hand gripped my chin and lifted my tear-stained head from my arms. My eyes red with tears, i hooked my arms around his torso and buried my face into the soft of his shirt. His hands caressed my back and I wanted this to last forever. He pulled away and I simply looked up into his eyes.
I couldnt hold it back any longer. I stretched out my neck and nipped his cheek with my lips. He came back with a kiss to kill all doubt I had ever had inside me, as I was whisked away through his lips. He held back for a moment for both of us to breath.
Caught in a flurry of drones around my ears, my eyes closed, and I felt suddenly very tired. Then everything went black.~*~
I awoke the next morning lying in a comfortable apartment bed. My eyes snapped open and I jolted up. I remembered where I was. Confused, I glanced here and there and around the apartment for Methos. he was gone With tears welling up in my eyes I glanced. Down. A note. I opened itcarefully. "I am sorry, m'love, but I had to make a hasty leave. Should we meet again, who knows...Fate may be our only luck.Sincerely,Adam Pierson" I drew back a deep breath and memorized the note over and over in mymind. I then choked on my breath. He never knew my name..
