Gambit was still in shock. There was not doubt about it. Before him were several three dimensional X-Ray pictures of Rogue's lower abdomen area. In each shot, they could see the small sacks that held the two babies. "How ... how ... how far ... long is she?" He finally managed to say.
"Approximately three and one half months. If all goes well, she should deliver between late June or early July." Hank pointed at the picture. "From the looks of things, I estimate that they will more than likely be identical."
Rogue did not say anything. She stood in front of the viewer, mouth gaping open. Two of everything!!
"De ... de ... de ... bracelet's affect?" Gambit stuttered.
"I still need to go over everything before I can give you a definite answer about that ..."
"Why ain't Ah showing yet?" She interrupted. When it looked like the two men were ignoring her, she got louder. "Ah said, 'Why ain't Ah showing yet'?"
Hank directed their attention to the last picture he'd placed on the viewer. It was a side view of Rogue's abdomen. "As you can see..." He pointed. "... the outer placenta wall is about to expand outward." He pointed to where baby #1 was perched with its back snugly against her uterine wall, its sibling directly behind it. "Rogue, you are in perfect health. You don't have one bit of fatty tissue on your whole body. It still maybe another two weeks to a month before you start showing."
"Wha' 'bout de sex of de babies Hank? Both boys or both girls?"
"Well she is not quite far enough along to see that. She'd would have to be in her fifth to sixth month before the babies take on any sexual distinction or physical characteristics. However, we probably could tell now, but as you can see, your children are a bit camera shy.
Rogue looked closely. "Isn't that cute?" She gushed. They were indeed turn toward each other, almost as if they were trying to hug.
Gambit chuckled as he came up behind Rogue. Placing his hands around her still narrow waist, he gently pulled her back against him. "Chere, when ya do somet'in, ya don' play ... do ya?"
She let her thick maned head of hair fall back against his upper chest. "Nope. Remy and neither do yah Sugah." She teased.
Hank cleared his throat, *Cough*, *Cough*. "I can see that you two are happy about this latest development."
"Of course we are." Gambit carefully kissed the top of her white streaked hair.
"Well ... there is only one thing Ah want to ask you?"
"Yes Rogue, anything."
"Since Remy and Ah didn't know 'bout this ... Ah was wonder'in if'in there was a way that he and Ah could perhaps ... you know, have one last evening together before we part?" She smiled cheaply as Gambit slightly rocked her from side to side.
"I see." Henry scratched behind his ear. "Have you been experiencing any trouble during intercourse over the last couple of months? Pain or any type of bleeding or unusual discharges afterwards?"
"None that I can tell." She smiled.
"Hummmmmm. I believe if I adjusted radius of the bracelet's affect and cut the hours to six instead of the usual twelve, you should be fine for at least one more evening."
"Dat would be tre' magnifique Homme." He kissed the back of her head again before he let her go. He looked quickly at his watch. It read 3:45 p.m. "Oh Damn! I've got ta go downstairs!"
"But Remy ...?"
"Sorry Chere, but I need ta stay on Cyclops' good side. At least until I can get some land sanctioned off for our house." He winked then patted her playfully on her back side before he turned to leave. Remy turned around backwards walking to the door. "Hank, can ya see her back ta our room. I'll be dere ta see 'bout her as soon as I'm through."
"Sure Remy. I suggest we inform the other team members of Rogue's condition. It may take a team effort to see this through. You can't be with her all of the time." He reasoned. "I'll make out a schedule by tomorrow of who should sit with her. They will be responsible for bringing her food and helping her back and forward to the rest room!" He told the retreating figure.
Gambit smacked the 'open' button with his left hand when he got to the door. "Love ya Chere!!" He blew her a kiss. "And t'anks Hank!!" He yelled as he went out of the door.
She waved at him as the door came close in his face. Rogue let out a quick gust of air as she cocked her head to the side to think about Gambit.
"Rogue?"
"Yeah Hank?" She breathed.
"You may dress now. I'll see you back upstairs."
"Yeah Hank?" She repeated as she cocked her head in the opposite direction. "Hank?"
"Yes Rogue?"
"No matter what ... if it has to be me or the babies? Don't let mah babies die."
"No Rogue! I can not promise you that without Remy's knowledge! He has a say in this too!"
She shook her head vigorously, No. These are mah children! They are probably the only ones Ah'll e'vah have! Nuthin' or no one is more important tah me than tah give this tah Remy! Do yah hear me!! Nuthin'!!
"I hear you Rogue." Hank frowned as he realized that it was going
to be a long five and one-half months.
