The Hisari were once a democratic society in the midst of empires and tyranny. The Hisari Confederation linked many now extinct species together in a working form of government that brought peace and prosperity to all within the confederation.
Art and literature flourished within the Hisari Confederation, and scientific research reached the heights of known limits. The Hisari developed medicines that cured most illnesses. They also developed art forms unknown to any species.
The Cylon Alliance attacked the small planet of Kyss sparking the Hisari/Cylon war. The Hisari were woefully unprepared for any outside attacks and the Cylons quickly took half of the Confederation.
The Hisari pleaded to all for help, but only the Colonials came. The battle that followed sparked the beginning of the Thousand Yahren War with the Cylons.
The Hisari Confederation collapsed early in the war, millions of Hisari fled to seek asylum in the colonies. Thousands of species within the Confederation weren't so lucky. Over 600 species are now extinct due to the Cylon occupation of the Confederation. Most other species are faced with extinction... notably the Karalans who number only 7 now. Most species fled to the colonies where they were granted full asylum and citizenship rights.
The Hisari fled to a new homeworld kept secret until after the holocaust. The total population of New Hisari is 1.2 billion, half being Hisari. New Hisari is a member of the United Colonies.
