Research and Development

Research has quadrupled since the Holocaust. Linking all scientists on all member worlds in Colonial space, the colo-net has allowed scientific research to advance at staggering paces. The colo-net was designed by students at the Hanshak Science Academy, it uses sub-space relays to allow instantaneous communication between all who is hooked upon the net.

Once the colo-net was built, all science academies and universities and military institutes could share knowledge which helped lead to new weapon, medical, communication and ship-building techonologies.

Armor technology

A new armor, called Adamantium armor, is being developed now. It consists of overlapping series of titanium and velarium alloys and the new armor is nearly 1000 times stronger than the current Zeon armor.

Star Fortress

The Star Fortress is a floating orbital weapons platform designed to protect the homeworlds. Housed within its huge confines lies 2 squadrons of vipers, 10 shuttlecraft and 1 cobra.

The combined strength of the Star Fortress' firepower and viper compliment is equivalent to a Battlestar. The Star Fortress is the last line of defense for the homeworlds and several are in production over various planets. The first Star Fortress is now operational over Caprica, with Sagittara, Virgo and Aeriana working on completing theirs.

Fighter Garrisons

Fighter Garrisons are not a new technology, but new designs have revamped the old fighter garrison. The new garrisons are sleaker in design and can house upwards of 4 squadrons of vipers and 4 cobras. Each homeworld has one fighter garrison installed now.

Ground Batteries

Ground batteries were installed on all the colony worlds prior to the Holocaust, but were not utilised during the Cylon attacks. Most ground batteries were destroyed early before they had a chance to defend the colonists. The new ground batteries being built will help ward off Cylon raiders and new weapons being installed will feature phasers capable of attacking Base Stars in orbit.
