The Dragon Shugenja Deck

This is the first incarnation of my new Dragon Deck. I have based it around the Dragon Clan's shugenja. After all, the Dragon are supposed to be the second most powerful clan when dealing magic. However, I have come to realise that the while the Dragon Clan does indeed have many shugenja, they are not very powerful. None have a Chi higher then 3 (except their champion, who is the highest Chi shugenja in the game, go figure), and most have a Chi of only two.

The first priority of this deck was to use as many personalities that can be brought out first turn as possible. I have noticed that the only samurai that can come out first turn is Daini. The Dragon really need some cheap samurai. Because of this, I decided that I would need to make use of the shugenja in order to get the cheap personalities.

Since I was going to be using a lot of shugenja, I might as well make good use of them. I have noticed that Corrupt Phoenix Decks (CPDs) have been making a strong showing in the tournament scene. While this deck won't be able to match those decks as far as spell casting power, I decided I would just make it so that type of deck would be rendered helpless by my magic and ability to counter it. I realised that Togashi Jadome was a decent (stat wise) personality, and since I would be playing three of him, I might as well play the Ring of Air. My concept was set.

The main strategy behind this deck is the honor win. Play this deck to gain honor as fast as possible. Always pay full cost for your personalities when possible. Make use of the duels to gain honor more quickly. The magic tricks in the deck will hopefully give you the edge when in combat. Shadowlands decks should be utterly devastated by the spells, and Pheonix Decks' spell casting ability should be rendered mostly useless if you can get the Ring of Air out (combined with Jadome).

Dynasty Deck- 46 cards

Fate Deck- 42 cards

This deck is still under developement. I must conduct extensive playing to work out the bugs and whatnot. This is just my first draft. I feel that it is a competitive deck out of tournament play as it is for sure. After I take it against some tournament players, I will be able to accurately judge its true competitiveness and do further developement to strengthen its weaknesses. If your are a Dragon Member and this deck can help you out at all, please use it. The Dragon Clan must unite. For too long the attention of Rokugan has been centered on the other clans (especially Crane and Lion). It is time for the world to see the true might of the Dragon.
