Logan's World

by William F. Nolan

Ten years have passed since Logan and Jessica escaped the Sandmen and found their way to Argos, a Space Station orbiting the planet Mars. During this time, they have lived free and in peace, away from the gun, the sandmen and the 21 death age. Jessica and Logan now have a son, Jaq, whom they both love with all their hearts. However, their time onboard the Space Station is drastically cut short. For suddenly, the secret supply ships from Earth have stopped coming to bring food and oxygen to the colonists. Even new runners from the controlled cities on Earth have stopped coming to Argos as well. Logan, Jessica, Jaq and a handful of other survivors evacuate the station and head back to Earth to find out what's happened and start anew.

Back on Earth, Logan, Jess and Jaq discover that the Thinker, or computer who controlled the world's population, has been destroyed and that Earth is now in a state of confusion and turmoil because there is literally no more law and order. Everyone must fend for themselves. The sandmen have scattered, the cubs are running wild, and the gypsies and other gangs are an ever present threat to the citizens of the planet, trying their best to survive this new nightmare world.

Shortly after their arrival on earth, Jaq takes ill and it's up to Logan to try and find his son some medication to save his boys life. However, it won't be easy. The drugs he needs were only available in the computer controlled nurseries, that have all since been looted and destroyed.

While Logan is away, trying to find a cure for his ailing son, Jessica and Jaq are captured by evil gypsies, led by Lucrezia and her companion, Prince. The twelve gypsies (known as the Borgia Riders) decide that Jessica would bring a great price on the black market if they were to sell her as a sex slave. Unfortunately, they have no need for Jaq. And when Logan returns and finds out what has happened to his family, HE SNAPS! He gets his gun (which he hasn't used for ten years) and vows to hunt down the Borgia Riders until they are all accounted for and destroyed!

Without spoiling too much, Logan tracks down Jessica, through the help of his friend Jonath and two beautiful blind psychics (Liath and Dia). Jessica, he discovers, is now in the hands of a dangerous ex-Sandman named Gant. Gant wants to repair the Thinker, based in Crazy Horse Mountain. In doing so, the cities of the Earth will revert back to their old ways and the world would again be populated only by the young! Gant would rule the world and the 21 Death age would be reinstituted! By holding Jessica hostage, Gant would lure Logan to Crazy Horse and kill him! For Gant wasn't too happy to see Logan escape the first time around, and has held Logan accountable for all the problems in the world since he ran. Along with dozens of other Sandmen, Gant will stop at nothing to complete his mission.

Will Logan be able to stop Gant before it's too late? Can he bring Jessica and Jaq back to him, so they can be the happy family they once were? Just what does Logan do when he encounters the twelve Borgia Riders? How does Logan cope with the loss of his loving wife and son? And what becomes of Ballard, Jonath and the psychics?

The answers await in this excellent sequel... Logan's World!
