Tribute to Dana Scully

Special Agent Dana Katherine Scully. It's a name I have turned over and over in my head. Somehow, I can never quite reconcile the "Dana Katherine" to the face. It's just Scully.

Just Scully. As if this woman could be termed just Scully. She is utterly fantastic, and that's all there is to it. I can try to list her virtues, I suppose. She is incredibly intelligent, and nearly always knows what she's talking about. She always has a scientific answer for Mulder's wild theories, always is able to keep her enthusiastically childlike partner in some form of check with her bright, capable mind and smooth wit.

What can I say? Scully is the shit! She never loses a physical fight, rarely loses a mental fight (except to Mulder, where one gets the notion that she's letting him win). She's so wonderfully beautiful, and yet never uses that beauty to any advantage. She can have a razor tongue that cuts arguments to shreds with sarcasm and disbelief, or she can have a deep voice of pure honey, soothing and reassuring Mulder that everything will be alright. She never lets on how much she's hurting, in an effort to protect Mulder. And she hurts. Oh, does she hurt!

This girl has been abducted, probed, cut into, violated, stolen from, hit, sliced, accosted, and hospitalized HOW many times? And HOW many of those times were Mulder's fault? But she never blames him, however much he blames himself. She never makes him feel guiltier than he is, and she tries to ease his pain when she is suffering horribly herself. She risks her own life and well-being over and over again for him, putting his safety over her own all the time.

She is always there for Mulder, and he takes her for granted like you couldn't believe. But every so often, when she is lying in a hospital bed, bruised and bloodied because of him, he realizes that he needs her, and would be dead a thousand times over if not for her. She is his savior, his guardian angel, his warrior and protector and Valkyrie. She would defend him at all costs

Dana Scully is a paragon of strength, and I admire her greatly. Scully doesn't quit. Ever. And she never will.
