Hi. Welcome to Silent Ground. This is a page devoted to cemeteries. I have always, as far back as I can remember, felt very calm and comfortable when in a graveyard. My husband I were married in a Cemetery! There are meny of us out there. You could call us "taphophiles", from the word "taphonomy." (Pronunciation: t&-'fä-n&-mE, noun, Etymology: Greek: taphE=burial + English: nomy= The study of the processes (as burial, decay, and preservation) that affect animal and plant remains as they become fossilized. I Walk, reading the stones or markers and I think, " At one time these souls laughed and cried, had good times and bad, had dreams and goals, had their secrets, probably raised a family, and struggled through as we all do. I wonder where he/she may be now. Can they remember this life? Do they know I'm here, at their grave thinking these thoughts?!
