Indian Myths

One of the legends which a number of different tribes told, were about certain people who had the ability (or the power) to change their shape and morph into the form of a wolf.

These tales seem to be of special interest to the tribes which use to live around the Weatherford-Fort Worth, area of  Texas.

The White Buffalo and the Wolf

One tale related to me by my friend Little Wing Johnson deals with the birth of the so-called "white buffalo" which in Native American philosophy is usually believed to be a sign of prophecy.  Some theories claim that such a birth indicates either a coming world peace or the end of the world.

The legend of "The White Buffalo and the Wolf" begins with the birth of a rare white buffalo.  As a nearby tribe comes across the animal, one of the braves who was too young to yet prove himself as a man in combat, feared that the coming of this beast meant that he would never have the chance to become a man.     So in a rage of anger he took the form of a wolf and slaughtered the poor innocent animal.

This isn't a very good story because it doesn't really have a clear moral or purpose.  It's the very lack of these elements that my friend Little Wing Johnson believes this tale should not be taken as a fable but instead  as a factual recounting of an actual event.  As he puts it "This story, just like life doesn't make any sense."

I think this is a good time to point out that Little Wing Johnson is neither a psychic nor a spiritual leader.

I hope to be adding  more tales to my site as quick as I can.

Until then I've added the links below which seem to touch upon similar areas of research.

So many silly stories are connected with the Weatherford area that I wanted to avoid using any of those tales  for fear that the information can not be taken seriously anymore.  But then I couldn't help wonder why I kept stumbling into these bizarre tales about the Weatherford, Texas area.  So I've decided to make some of the information available by providing links to some of these stories.

The Legend of Weatherford, Texas
Here is where the information starts to get more interesting, but most of it I hesitate to take seriously.

The Haunting of Weatherford, Texas
The information provided here is mainly silly stuff, which probably shouldn't be taken serious.

I hesitate to take this site seriously but I just stumbled onto it as I was beginning my own research and there are several parallels with the information contained here and some of the things I found out on my own.
