Chapter 1
*********

"What a lousy way to start the school year," growled the drenched,
pig-tailed girl as she looked up the plain, brick building that'll
serve as her home for the next couple of months.

She ignored the constant hustle of equally soaked fellow students
moving past her, each with a curse on his lips at the unwelcomed sun
shower leaving everything yet to be moved in damp at the least. Ranma
had no such problem having everything she owned tucked securely in
her backpack, but she cursed loudly along with the rest. Nothing like
an instant sex change to ruin one's mood, after all.

She wrung as much of the water out of her hair and clothes as she
could before making her way inside. It was as if someone had suddenly
turned a stereo's volume on max: while outside the sounds of
raindrops and anatomically impossible curses served as easily ignored
background noise, the crying parents and the teenagers making their
glee at their newfound independence known by running around
half-clothed and snapping wet towels at each other took a bit more
effort to ignore.

But ignore it she did (Well, after punching the pervert who had the
nerve to try to grab her ass), and she resolutely marched towards the
elevator at the end if the hall to go up and find her room.

The metal doors were just beginning to move together when he heard a
plaintive cry of "wait" coming from a girl carrying stacks of
cardboard boxes that went all the way past her head.

Ranma held the door open and watched as the girl ran inside, the
boxes on her arms swaying precariously with each step.

"Do you need any help there?"
A smiling face with amused brown eyes popped out from behind the
boxes to shake her head no, sending indigo strands tucked behind her
ears to loosen and flutter in front of her face.

"Nothing I can't handle," the girl replied as she easily placed all
the boxes' weight on her left hand and playfully began flexing a
well-muscled arm.

"You do kendo, right?" Ranma guessed as she eyed the bokuto strapped
to the girls hip.

"Sometimes," the girl answered with a Mona Lisa smile. "How about
you?"

"A little of everything."

The taller girl's grin widened. "Great! Let's have a match later,
ok?"
