Disbelief Disclaimer: The X-Men belong to Marvel and I'm not sure who this song belongs to but I believe Laura Branigan sang it originally. No profit is being made by any of this, so don't worry.

Disbelief

By Campbell

"Wolverine, ya up! Ya ain't never gonna believe dis." Gambit rushed over to his barley-awakened friend.

"Cajun, go back to bed. It's morning, and nothing important happens in the morning. I think it's a law."

"Someting did happen an it happen last night. Listen!" Gambit demanded. "Is Ororo. She met someone last night. His name is Robert, an dey gonna get marry!!!"

Logan stared at his friend, unbelieving. This couldn't have happen. It was impossible. No... "Excuse me Remy." He ran up the stairs. Each thud on the stairs sounded like another nail in his coffin. Another gunshot into his heart.

I could hardly believe it, when I heard the news today
I had to come and get it straight from you

He burst into Storm's room at the top of the stairs. "'Ro!" She stood there, carefully folding things into a suitcase. She wore a brilliant smile that lit up the room. She seemed to be bursting.

Said you were leaving, someone swept your heart away
From the look on your face I see it's true

She rushed over to him. "Logan! I'm so happy you're awake. I wanted to tell you first, but Remy seems to have found out. I met a man last night. He is... incredibly. I've never felt so sure about something as I do about this. It's all so right! I'm leaving to go and get to know him better. I'll be back... But I think this is what I was meant to do. Oh Logan, I'm in love. Aren't you happy for me?" She threw her arms around her best friend and hugged him. All Logan could do was nod numbly. He didn't believe any of this could really be happening.

Tell me all about it, tell me 'bout the plans you're making
Oh, and tell me one thing more before I go
Tell me, how am I supposed to live without you?
Now that I've been loving you so long.
How am I supposed to live without you?
And how am I supposed to carry on?
When all that I've been living for is gone...

He watched from his window late that night. She'd be back, for a going away party. And for a wedding. He felt like his heart was being squeezed dry. A long silver limo pulled up in front of the mansion and a handsome, wonderful looking gentlemen stepped out. He escorted Storm into the limo, after greeting her friends. Logan wanted nothing more then to run downstairs and tell her to stop. Tell her that HE loved her and she should marry him. Only one thing stopped him. The fact that she was smiling.. beaming.. Ororo was utterly happy. He wasn't sure if he could ever make her happy. Not truly and completely, like this. And he could never stand to take away her happiness. It was more important then his.

When all that I've been living for is gone.
