Devil's Temptation
Part Four
By Christine Demerath

The annoying sound of my alarm clock has been buzzing for almost a minute. Didn't get any sleep last night to anxious to see her again, he said soon. I can wait a month if I had ta; it's better than never. Saints am I tiered. "AAAAAAAAAA," dat's clock getting on my nerves. Almost went nuts when Belle die was really depressed, but than da bounty hunters got me interested. Was still depressed, but Colie slowly got me ta feel good again. But don't want ta think `bout him now.

My whole body feels like lead. Takes a lot ah work ta put da pillow over my head and go deeper into my blankets, hiding. "AAAAAAAAAA…" Freaking piece ah shit. "AAAAA…BOOM!"

"Opps." I slowly emerge from my bed and head for the bathroom, ah'll get da clock after my work out. Truing the shower on I get a towel and some soaps and quickly jump into the shower. I yelp as the chilled water hits my skin. Reaching my hand out from the shower I hit the play bottom on the tape player.

"Beth I hear ya calling, but I can't come home right now…. Me and the boys are playing and we just can't find the sound…. Just a few more hours and I'll be right home to you…. Beth I hear you calling, but Beth what can I do? Beth what can I do? You say you feel so empty…. That a house just ain't a home, I'm always somewhere else and you're always there alone…. Just a few more hours and I'll be right home to you…… Beth I hear ya calling, but Beth what can I do…. Beth what can I do." Turning of the water and trying down a little, during the pause, I wait for the last verse to begin, so I can continue. "Beth I know you're lonely and hope you'll be alright... `Cuz me and the boy will be playing all night_____." The band fades out as I dry my biceps and chest. Then move to grab another towel to dry my head. The beat of a new song starts and I shake the water out of my hair and put the towel over my head. The memory of me and Colie going ta one of dere concerts is still fresh in my mind. Normally don't listen ta rock, almost all jazz and blues, stuff down in Orleans, not rock `n roll, but Colie got me into it.

"12 o'clock I've gotta rock….. Truck up ahead lights staring at my eyes…." I jump into the other room singing my heart out. "Oh my God, no time to turn…. I've got ta cry, `cuz I know I'm going to die… Why? Get up every body's going to lose their seat get down..…" I spin around, "…. Oh fuck."

"Funny, I didn't think that was how it went. Nice ass by the way, front isn't to shabby either." Arclight.

"Ya, well… thanks." Slowly and uncomfortably I move the towel off my head and tie it around my waist. "What ya doing it here?"

"Sinister wants ya."

"What for?"

"Don't matter, he wants that cute little ass off yours in his main lab," she throw her curt little reply over her shoulder. She walks over ta nightstand. "The alarm clock attack you, pretty boy?" I hate that name. I watch here carefully as she walks over the rubble I use to call my alarm clock and picks up a picture of Belle and me.

"Yeah, now if ya don't mind," I bow to the door. "Get out."

"Ahh, Remy, how are you faring this morning?" He almost smiles.

"Fine." I grumble in reply.

"Now, now why so angry I thought you'd been waiting for this day, have you not?"

"Oui?"

"Your wife is sleeping in the other room, memorizes in-tacked, but they may be a little fuzzy. It will take a while for her to recover fully, she'll be fine in a few days. You may want to let her wake on her own, but you can go in." I feel my body began to shake, looking at the door Sinister had motioned to. Oh Belle, girl, ya don't know how much I waited to see ya again. But I still can't shake the fact that this could be…. all just another lie. I look up to Sinister and he nods to the door to my left, my eyes are ablaze and wild. I want ta run to the door but all I can do is slowly slug my way over to the door. I glance back quickly, Sinister is already back on his computers, I reach for the door and quietly open it.

Oh god it's true. All I can feel is my heart pounding wildly. Quickly I move to her beautiful sleeping form. She looks just as she always has, `cept her hair, it's not in brads. Kneeling down next to her I sweep the hair that had settled in front of her face. Looking toward haven I thank him once more. "Remy?" Belle's weak and shaky voice is more than just music to my ears.

"Oh, Belle," I pull her to my body, not wanting to let go. I don't think she want to either, feels like she's holding on for dear life. "Belle, ya don't know how much I've missed ya. I love ya." I wait for a reply. "Do ya know what happened, girl? Belle?"

"Oh Remy! I… I… I was so scared."

"What happened Belle?" These girl don't scare easy.

"Remy, I died! Died, Remy, ya have no idea… Please, Remy, just hold me."

"Oui, you can tell me `bout it later. Go head, chere, cry. Ya gotta let it out." She's trembling. "It's okay, chere, I'll protect ya." The sobs surface soon after.

After calming down Belle told me what happened. Describing to me how her dead happened throw her eyes and how she fought ta stay alive leaving her in something known as the astricel plains, which confuses me `til no end. She's finally asleep, but I ain't leaving her in here. She needs a decent bed not some cot in a room that 10x10 with metal floors and walls with a tiny bathroom. I'd go ta Sinister now, but I don't have da heart ta wake her. Slowly I to fall asleep on the little cot holdin` Belle in my arms.
