Reunion
Part 4
The next day things were pretty much back to normal, besides the fact that Xavier was avoiding Jean. He had decided not to come to breakfast or dinner, the night before. So Jean choose to confront him, instead of letting it go on any farther. She walked down the hall trying to think of what to say to him. She was still shook up about what she had seen the day before. Before she knew it she was standing in front of Xavier's private office. She looked at the door handle and slowly turned it. Peering her head into the office she found Professor looking out the window.
"Professor? Can I talk to you?" she brought Xavier out of his trans.
"What? Oh, Jean," he turned to face her. "I didn't hear you come in."
"May I talk to you?" she repeated.
"Yes," he sighed.
"I noticed that you have been avoiding me and I would like to talk about what I saw yesterday."
"I'd rather not."
"Charles, I need to see more, to understand, what is wrong."
"Jean, didn't you see enough," he looked at her curious.
"No," she said presciently.
"But I will not risk hurting you anymore."
"I am willing to risk it!" her voice raised and then lowered. "I care."
"Jean, I know you do, but my decision is final."
"But Charles?"
"No."
"Will at least tell me what all that was about."
"It's irrelevant."
"The hell it is!" her eyes flared. "It wouldn't of had so much detail if it wasn't important. I want to go back in and find out more. Unless you want to tell me about it."
"Jean, I don't think you need to see anymore," he lied.
"Just let me look around the battle field one more time. Please," she pleaded.
"Jean, you saw everything."
"Don't lie to me, Professor!"
"Why would I?"
"I don't know, but while is was trying to get my breath back I saw something, next to the monument!"
"Jean, I don't think I...." he was cut off.
"Why? Are you afraid I'll see something I shouldn't?"
"All right, but don't go any farther then the field."
"I won't, I promise." She looked him in the eyes and entered his mind. Not taking time to look around the pictures or much else. With her photograph memory, she wouldn't have to. She walk directly up to the monument and looked around, trying to avoid looking at Storm. Then she spotted him. The Professor was sitting in a wheelchair staring into nothingness. She walked up to the figure and looked at is intensely. When apon looking in his eyes her own widened. Through the eyes she could see that his body was rotting from the inside out. His soul was being eating away little by little. She reached out to touch it and it crumbled to the ground. Now stood a grave. The date printed on it was the data that Magneto lost his memories and Charles gained them. The name was that of Professor Charles Frances Xavier. There was no dedication or kind words on the stone, only the spat of blood that had come from a young women. Jean took one last look and fled. For she didn't want to be there anymore then needed.
"Jean? Jean!?" she opened her eyes to see Scott's panic striking face.
"I'm all right," she quivered.
"Jean, I thought we talked about this last night!"
"I'm sorry, Scott," she turns to the Professor. "Are you all right?" He nodded.
"Good, now what do you two think you were doing?" Scott demanded.
"It's none of your business, Scott," Jean announced.
"I think it is! You could have been hurt, just look what happened yesterday!"
"I was shocked that's all."
"What was it?" She stayed silent. "Well?" More silence. "Jean, talk to me!"
"I don't think you need to know," with that she left the room.
"Jean? Jean, wait up!" but the door was slammed on his face.
"I'm sorry, Scott," Professor hung his head.
"That's okay, sir. If you don't mind I think I'm going to track down my wife."
"Good luck."

The rest of the day Xavier sat behind his desk thinking and there was a lot to think about. Lunch came and went. At sundown Sam had knocked on his door and escorted him down to dinner. There he planed to make the announcement. As he came in he was greeted and asked where he had been.
"Well, I have been in my office all day, thinking," he looked around to see questioning eyes. "I was thinking about what will come in the future. And I have decided that you would be safer and convertible with me gone. I will be leaving tomorrow." Everyone stared at him in shock.
"Why?" came a low voice.
"Logan, you would all be better off."
"Where did you get that idea?" Another pipped up.
"I am a criminal."
"We all criminals." Gambit's eyes looked up from his plate and to Charles with sad eyes.
"Look what I have done!"
"That wasn't you." Jean.
"I let it happen!"
"No, you didn't," the room feel silent. After what felt like an eternity Xavier spoke.
"I'll be in my room if anyone needs me, good night," he left the room.

The cab pulled up in front of the large mansion and the residents came out.
"Charles, where are you going?" rang Ororo.
"I'm not sure about long term, but I will be moving in a small cottage, for the time being."
"Got an address?" Logan inquired.
"I'll contact you if needs be."
"What if we need to get hold of you?" Gambit handed the cabby the suit cases.
"I must go, the cab is waiting. Good bye and thank you. I will miss you all dearly." When rest of the good byes were expressed, the Professor crawled into the cab. As the car pulled away he looked at his students some with silent tears and waves. His concentration was broke by the cab driver.
"Where to?"
"Kennedy airport, please."
"Sure." After a while of driving they entered New York and slowly made there way to the airport.
"Now, how much do I owe you?"
"Twenty-two, fifty-six."
"Thank you," Xavier paid the woman and closed the door. When Xavier was out of site the woman pulled out a small transmitter.
"He just left the cab. Don't lose him," she hissed.
"Got it. Hey, how'd the disguise work, Arclight?"
"Perfect, love! Gambit didn't even know it was me! Don't lose Xavier or the doctor will have your head! Out."

With another two hours before his plain took flight, Charles decided to take a stroll around the airport. Taking a turn down a dead-end hallway was not the smartest think he had ever done, but he was exhausted and thought that he would take a quick rest. He was just about to venture out into the crowd again, was stopped. Two hands came from behind and grabbed him, despite the fight he gave he was pinned.
"I wouldn't try anything," came a laughing voice. "Your coming one way or another, don't matter to me."
"But it dose, Scalphunter" came a metallic voice from the transmitter. Which caused Scalphunter to jump. "Now, bring him to me and make sure he is unharmed. Out," the picture disappeared and Scalphunter went on with his work.
