"So I got the room after a dead girl ?" spoke Elizabeth to herself. "Great, just damn great." She just moved into the mansion of Gen. X. The house was great. It was even bigger than her own. The people ? Well, the other teacher at this school ^How do they manage with only two teachers ?^ Ms. Frost seemed a bit cold. But she wasn't that bad. Then the other students. The girl called Jubilee seemed nice. She was the joker of the whole group. Elizabeth hoped they would be friends. The other girl Paige seemed really up herself and she seemed to be drifting away most of the time. The guys weren't that great either. There was the charming Jono, but why the hell did he cover his face ? And he talked funny. Everett was a total jerk to her and Angelo seemed quite okay. Then it was the other girl. Jubilee told her on the way up the stairs that she was going to live in the room after the girl that died just few months ago. What was her name again ? M, Monet something like that. Elizabeth didn't know if Jubilee was telling the truth, the teachers never told her anything. But already she liked Jubilee. She seemed to have her nose in everyone's face. That seemed cool enough.

Overall the team seems okay. She wondered how she was going to fit in herself. She got up from the massive bed and looked out the window. It was Christmas in few days. She wondered if she should go home for Christmas. She turned around and looked at her packed bags. "Well dead girl or not I still have to get unpacked."

Jubilee looked down at her plate with disgust. She hated when Paige cooked. Why couldn't they just call for some food ? As the rest of the class sat down Jubilee raised her head. "So what do ya think of the new girl ?" she asked casually.

"She's got nice hair." said Everett. They all looked at him.

"Just joking guys."

"She seems okay I suppose." answered Paige and kept playing with her food, clearly disturbed with something.

#She will fit in after a while# said Jono.

"I like her attitude." added Angelo.

Then they all went back to doing their own thing. Jubilee glanced at them annoyed. She got up and walked across the table.

"Hey what are you doing ?..."

"I'm going to sleep. We've got a training session tomorrow and besides you guys aren't talkative tonight. See ya."

As Jubilee walked out of the kitchen everyone looked at her. "What do you mean we are not talkative ???"

Trying to keep quiet Jubilee knocked at the door. "Hey Elizabeth are you awake ?" she asked. No answer came. ^Too bad^ Jubilee thought as she opened the door. Elizabeth was lying on the bed in her clothes with music playing. As Jubilee turned around to walk out Elizabeth got up

"Hello Jubilee"

"Er hi, I don't want to disturb you, I'll just go..."

"No stay I was doing nothing anyway."

Elizabeth smiled at Jubilee as she sat down on the bed beside her.

"So what do you think of the school ?"

"It seems okay. I hope I'm going to fit it."

"Ah don't worry you will, when I was with the X-Men..."

"You were with the X-Men ??"

"Yeah some time ago. Anyway I fit in even though I was the youngest there."

A brief silence fell over the room after that. Both girls looked out the window each looking at her own thing. Elizabeth spoke first.

So what's your power ?"

"This." Jubilee said as her hand lighted up in many different colors creating sparks.

"Cool."

"So how did you find out about your power ?"

"It's sort of a long sad story."

"I have time. You can tell me."

Elizabeth looked unsure at Jubilee. She hasn't told anyone about Kyle or Linda. Maybe it was finally time to do it.

"Okay... but promise you wont tell anyone."

"Promise."

As the snow covered the ground in another layer Elizabeth told Jubilee the story of betrayal and deception. The story of lost faith and broken hearts.

Elizabeth looked around nervously. First of she hated wearing spandex. Once again she looked down at her silly costume. It was a one piece bodysiut that was all red and had blue boots which reached almost to her knees. She had a "X" logo on her left breast. The costume had few pockets here and there and felt surpassingly comfortable.

She looked around at what was called the Danger Room. For now it was just a big room with steel walls that went 10 feet up. "Are you ready Elizabeth ?" Banshee's voice brought her back to reality. He and the rest of the team were up in a big glassed room called the Control Room.

"Yeah."

"Don't worry Elizabeth, you'll make it !" shouted Jubilee over the intercom.

^Of course I am. Am I ?^ She didn't have more time to think because the Danger Room suddenly changed into a empty street at night. ^They have cool holograms^

#Elizabeth can you hear me ?# said a voice in her head, it was Ms. Frost.

#Yeah#

#Try talking to me#

#Aren't I now ?#

#Great then we got telephaty sorted out. Next thing is your other power#

#What do I do ?#

#Try fighting that robot...#

#What rob.... ? Holly.... What do I do ?#

#Okay you need to listen to me carefully. Concentrate all of your mind on the robot#

#What's next ?#

#Try talking to the robot but in a more violent way that you are with me#

Elizabeth concentrated her mind on that machine that was slowly approaching her. Invisible energy flew from her head at hit the robot. It short circuited then blew into pieces.

#I did it !#

# You did indeed. Well done#

The Danger Room came back to normal again. Elizabeth looked up to the communication room where everyone was looking at her. Jubilee grabbed the microphone and shouted to her. "Told ya you could do it."

#Thanx Jubilee#

"Hey, no talking in my head !"

Elizabeth chuckled. As she walked up the stairs she thought about what had happened within the last few days. Maybe it was all for the good after all. She began to like life here. And her power was pretty cool too. She realized she needed a brake like that. She needed a new life. And she just got it.
