A figure of a woman climbed the roof carefully. Her shadow reflected on the ground. Looking around once more, she leaned over the giant roof-window. Out of her small bag she took out some kind of a knife and cut the glass carefully. Concentrating her vision she looked around until she found a pole. Tying a rope to the pole she carefully lowered herself to the floor. When she was just few meters from the ground she stopped. Out of nowhere violet light shone on to the floor. She saw red rays over the floor. < Good, but I've seen better,> she thought.

Looking around she noticed that all of the rays went to a little box in the corner. Gently, she lowered herself there. While still hanging just inches from the ceramic floor she took out a pair of tongs. Opening the box carefully, she looked at the wires. Red and blue. Carefully trying not to touch the blue one, she cut the red wire. Looking down she noticed the rays were gone. While she was standing up the violet light disappeared as suddenly as it appeared. Walking up to the big glass display that was in the center of the room she looked around ensuring there was no people around. She looked at the big diamond that was inside. Again she took out the knife and soundlessly cut a hole through the glass. The violet light appeared again. Hundredths rays were crossing each other back and forth.

Carefully, she reached for the diamond trying no to touch any rays. She did it. She took her hand out and looked at the diamond, and smiled under the mask. Then soundlessly she ran back to the rope. While climbing to the roof she placed the diamond in her bag. There she took the rope and walked up to the edge of the roof. She stepped forward and started to fall down.

Her hands grabbed a vertical flag pole and she stopped. Then she jumped down to the ground. She ran around the corner. While leaning on the wall she breathed deeply. < This was the last time,>she thought. She took the diamond out of her bag and looked at it. It was the size of her palm. Under her mask, she smiled at it. She hid it into her bag as she got out a change of clothes. Taking her mask off, her blonde hair fell out, almost reaching to her waist. Quickly she got dressed and walked out to the street. She saw no one. < They won't notice until morning,> she thought. < And by then I'll be on my way out of LA>

Gambit looked at his opponent. Juggernaut loomed dangerously over him. His massive arms stroke out wildly, destroying the walls around him. Gambit quickly darted out of the way throwing a few charged cards. The cards exploded when they hit his armor, creating a flash. Juggernaut advanced toward Gambit as he scrambled away from the giant. Gambit's mind raced for answers as he tried to remember what was they key to stopping Juggernaut. < Take his helmet off !,> suddenly he remembered. As Juggernaut was swinging his arm towards Gambit, he quickly got up to his feet. Juggernaut missed but the earth started to shake and Gambit was thrown off balance. Before he could do anything, Juggernaut's gigantic hands picked him up and threw him in the air. Gambit landed hard.

"Okay, mes amis, y' crossed de line." he spat out as he slowly got up. He started to run towards Juggernaut. The giant looked at him and after a second of thought he threw his huge body at Gambit. In that instant Gambit's hands lighted up. Using all his strength he lurched in the air. Juggernaut flew under him and Gambit dropped onto his head instantly. They both landed on the ground, Gambit trying to keep as much on top as possible. He pulled at Juggernaut's helmet with all his strength but it didn't even move. Colossal hands grabbed him. < Mon dieu,> he thought. Before he could do anything Juggernaut disappeared.

[ PROGRAM: TERMINATED]

Slowly Gambit got up. His body was sore all over. He saw Rogue standing in the door. He casually lit up a cigarette and took a deep breath. She came up to him. "Remy, we need ta talk."

"Den talk," he replied. He walked away from her to lean against the wall, watching her the whole time.

"Remy ignoring it ain't gonna help. Ah know you care !" She was beginning to shout.

"'Bout what chere. You an' Joseph ? I don' think I do."

"No Remy, this is 'bout us."

"Is dere us anymore ?" He was starting to lose his temper now too. She turned around, her hands clenched into fists. "You don' understand."

"O'course I don' understand. I never understood why ya trusted him !" In this unfortunate moment Joseph walked in to the Danger Room. He wasn't sure what the conversation was about but he heard Gambit's last words, and that was enough for him. He flew to Gambit in high speed and shouted "You shut your mouth Cajun. No one ever trusted you !"

Gambit wasn't prepared for an attack and Joseph got him off his feet. In barely seconds he felt being thrown all the way up the Danger Room and then dropped. While he was getting up when his body froze. "What the hell...?" he cursed looking at Joseph.

"I get it Magneto. You be starting t' return t' your own self now don' you ?" Joseph looked at him with cold hateful eyes. "De trick wit' manipulating metal in my blood. Only Magneto is able t' d' dat. An' I don' mean power. I mean attitude. Only Magneto can be so selfish and mean. I'm telling you. You be not Joseph. As much as you don' wan' t' you ARE becoming Magneto. And we see who will trust YOU den."

In that moment Rogue flew to Joseph. "Joseph, stop this, o' Ah'll stop you mahself." Joseph barely paid attention to her. He stretched his arm out and caught Rogue in a magnetic field, throwing her away. Dazzled she looked up. Gambit was beginning to choke even more. Quickly she got up and attacked Joseph. One punch sent him flying in the air. Using his powers he stopped in the air. He controlled all the metal from the Danger Room's floor and tied it around Rogue. She dropped like a piece of wood to the ground, trying to break free. Just then, Bishop and Cyclops ran into the Danger Room. Angel was flying above them and Iceman, transformed into his ice state right behind them.

"Joseph leave Gambit and Rogue alone !" Shouted Bishop. Joseph looked around. It was too late. He saw a red ray of energy coming at him, which knocked him off his feet. From the ground, ice appeared and tied Joseph around. Before he could do anything, Bishop was standing over him his gun pointed straight at his head.

"One move and you're fried, Joseph."

Just then Joseph looked at them with surprise and fainted. "We need to get them all to Hank. NOW !" Shouted Cyclops.

Bishop picked up Gambit who was barely breathing and ran towards Hank's lab. Bobby did the same with Rogue, and Angel took unconscious Joseph. Cyclops ran after them. As he ran through the corridors, he wondered But he had no time to think about it more.

Valerine Cooper looked up at the computer screen in front of her. It said:
[Copying Files on Charles Xavier to CD ROM. 99% complete ]

Sometimes she hated her job. There she was betraying her friends. She was basically giving in the X-Men to Bastion. But what could she do ? She had to obey orders. She looked up at two men sitting in front of her. One of them, Carl Dermak was her second in charge. Other James Hickow was her boss. They looked at her with curiosity. She still hadn't told them why she asked them to see her. Finally she spoke. "Gentlemen, you are probably wondering why I called you here today." "You see you two are the only people excluding me that know who Charles Xavier really is and why he really is here." The men nodded and waited for her patiently to go on. "Yesterday I received a call from Bastion. I assume both of you know who Bastion is. He asked me to hand over Xavier to him as well as all the files we've got on him. I don't know why, he appeared to not know Xavier's true identity."

Hickow looked at her and said. "So you just wanted to inform us Valerine or is there something more ?"

Valerine looked at him. "Well, actually...." she didn't finish her sentence, because suddenly a big crashing noise tore the air. The looked to the left from where the noise came from. The big 6 foot tall window was shattered into million pieces. On the floor in front of them stood a man. He was really tall, dressed all in black. His face was hidden by a mask. A utility belt was hanged from his hips containing some mysterious gadgets. Slowly he walked towards them. His boots squeaked on the glass. Valerine looked in terror as the stranger pulled out a gun from his belt. His arm outstretched, he pointed it at them.

"What the...." said Dermark. He and the rest reached for their guns but before they got them out, the stranger fired his weapon. Valerine heard two shots. she thought. Suddenly she felt pain in her chest. She fell to the ground, thinking . The man smiled underneath the mask. He walked up to Valerine. Pushing her off the chair he sat down in front of the computer and took out the disk that Valerine was loading information to and threw in into the fireplace. Then he started typing.

[ Delete all files on: Charles Xavier ]

He looked at the computer impatiently. It had 1 minute to go. Finally it was finished.

[ All files on: Charles Xavier deleted ]

The stranger smiled again. He took out his gun and fired at the computer. It blew up. Smoke raised into the air. The stranger walked up to the window. Looking down he noticed people staring at him. He took out something that looked like a anchor with a rope attached to it and threw it at the nearby skyscraper. Then he jumped off the window. For a second he drifted in the air with no attachment. Then the rope jerked and he stopped in midair. Pushing his body, he swung on the rope and landed on the wall of the building. Using his equipment he climbed to the top. There he took out a long trench coat that was hidden under a big piece of plastic foil. He took off his mask and smiled as he was going down the fire stairs. No one would find him now.

Trish Tilby looked up at the man that was swinging on a rope 10 stories from the ground. She wasn't sure what was going on but she knew it was nothing good. She took out a communicating device Hank had given her and waited for someone to appear on the small screen. Finally someone did. It was Sam. "Uh, hi Miss Tilby." he said a bit troubled. He was about to say something but Trish didn't let him speak.

"Look Sam find Hank and anyone else you can and tune in to CBNC. NOW !"

"But..."

"NOW Sam, you've got five minutes. You'll see what's going on then."

"'kay I'll do that."

"Thanx Sam. Bye."

"Goodbye." Sam raced towards Hanks lab. Suddenly while he was taking a corner he bumped into Hank, Warren, Bobby and Scott.

"What's the hurry about, Sam ?" asked Hank.

"Hank, Scott everyone we need t' get t' the TV. Now !"

"What for ?"

"I dunno Trish called and told me to find you..."

"Trish...?" "Let's go." They all raced towards the lounge. They sat down while Sam turned on the TV. Just in time. Letters began to appear on the screen.

[ CBNC Special Report ]

< This is really bad> thought Bobby.

Then Trish appeared on the screen. Hank felt relieved when he saw that she was okay. But her next words got him and everyone of their feet. "This is Trish Tilby reporting exclusively live from Washington D.C. where just a few minutes ago an unknown terrorist crushed into a window 10 stories high from earth into the Mutant Affairs office building."

"Dear God." said Warren. No one paid attention to him.

"We suspect that three shots were fired. The terrorist evacuated himself from the building five minutes ago by flying out and somehow climbing the opposite building. Then he managed to escape. Police hasn't arrived at the scene yet, and no investigation has been done. Ambulance has arrived and two dead people were taken away already, efforts to save their lives failed. They were both male, form what we can tell. We also know that doctors are still up there trying to save one more life. No one knows who that person is, or if their life can be saved."

Suddenly Trish turned around. "In fact here are the doctors now." Eyes of hundredths of people turned towards the doctors to see whether their effort to save a life has been successful. But their heads bowed told everyone that they hadn't. The person lying on the hospital bed was covered with a white bed spread. Trish could see it was a woman. She ran up to one of the doctors asking him something. He looked at her and after a while of hesitation he wrote down something and gave the paper to Trish. She came back.

"I don't like this." said Scott. "I've got this feeling it was..." He was interrupted by Trish. Her face was pale white.

"I've just talked to one of the doctors and he gave me the names of the victims. They were two men and one woman... These are the names: Carl Dermak, James Hickow and..." she stopped for a while before saying the next name.

"No." moaned Bobby.

"Valerine Cooper."

They looked at her in disbelieve. This couldn't be happening. This couldn't be the Val they knew. But Trish's sad face told them it was. And somewhere out there a switch was turned on. The switch of destiny. The events that happened that day changed the days of the future past forever. And somewhere strange music started to play. No one understood it's beats. Yet.....
