INTERLUDE 1:
Somewhere in a dark room two people sat across from each other. They were talking, for many hours now. Their conversation, even though filled with many different points centered on one man. One man only. They sat there for so many hours, ruling out a plan. A plan to once and forever destroy him.
They had tried this many times before, and failed every time. But not this time. This time it just wasn't going to happen. This time they were not only going to destroy the man. This time they were going to gain something more from it than just revenge. They would take his place and property. And nothing was going to stop them. Nothing.
"Yes Joseph. This time you will get what you deserved. It's a promise."

Xavier's School for Higher Learning
The young man flew through the air with amazing speed. His blasting field extended around him he didn't feel the rain coming down on him. He of course did notice it. ^Stupid rain. It just rains and rains. If Storm still had her mutant power then it would at least be sunny. But no her powers are gone and she's lashing out at everyone. Myself included.^ The young man frowned at the memory of the encounter with Ororo few days ago. She basically told him off for taking Sarah with him when they fought the Operation Zero Tolerance forces. Sam knew it was personal. If it was anyone else Storm would have made the same decision. But this was the Morlock Sarah. Few months ago she was still a villain, one of the very few Morlocks left alive. In a battle Storm had to rip out Sarah's heart in order to save millions of lives. Somehow Sarah returned to life and was now haunting Ororo. Always pushing her, always angering her. And this was why Storm told Sam off for bringing Sarah with him.
He didn't make much of those accusations, this was just another mood of the goddesses Storm. His main concern was X-Force. From Cable he learned they went on a vacation to Brazil after their encounter with Onslaught. They haven't heard from them since. Cable tried calling them yesterday but with no response. That could either mean they were on their way or gone into more trouble. He wised it was the earlier. He didn't like his teammates getting in international trouble every time they went out on a mission. When he was on the team he could help it sometimes. But ever since he joined X-Men he's had no control over what happened to them. Cable was gone most of the time too and that left the team leaderless. Of course there was Domino but she was gone half the time too, and Theresa still made many mistakes. As much as he loved being a member of the X-Men he hated his long time friends leaderless. At moments like this he wondered if maybe he should go back to X-Force. What good was he at X-Men anyway ? He was always regarded as a junior member, never asked for advice about leadership. Sometimes he was feed up with that. And sometimes he was really close to leaving. ^X-Force should be back within a week. I have to talk to them about it.^
He pressed the groceries harder against his chest and forgot about his worries for the moment. He glanced down to see the mansion coming into the view. Or rather not. Ruins was how Sam could describe it. No other words could put it better. He landed before what once was the stairs and began walking towards the hatch which lead to the Danger Room. Something caught his eye, something under the only wall left standing. He looked again and saw a person sitting in the shadows. After walking up few steps he noticed this person was Psylocke. Sitting out here in the rain she was trying to deal with her problems. Trying. Not only she was the part of X-Men' problems she just broke up with Warren, in a very ugly way. Sam knew it, he was there.
He reached Betsy and put on a best smile he could. "Miss ain't it a bit cold here ?" he asked.
"Nope." replied Betsy not even lifting her head up to look at him.
"Oh. Ah just been to Salem for some breakfast. Why don't ya come down with me and have breakfast with us."
"I'm not hungry."
"Look, um Elizabeth, miss. I may be new and I don't know ya very well but if you want to...."
Betsy lifted up her head and half smiled at him, if it could be considered as a smile. "Sam, don't take this personal or anything, you're a great person and everything but I'd rather be left alone now."
"Yeah I know." said Sam turning around and walking off. "I'll make sure there is some food left for you."
"Don't bother. I don't feel like eating."
"Err okay. Bye." Sam disappeared in the hatch and Betsy stared at it for few long moments. ^They boy is just trying to help.^ she thought to herself. ^Just the way he was brought up, he can't help it. Just like everyone. So far I've managed to hold them all off. I've managed to lock myself inside and let no feelings out. It's just what they want. They see me like this anyway. Cold heartless and with no feelings. Good one Bets.^
She sighed. This wasn't about her. It was about Warren. How could he ? Not only they broke up, but in what way. The name calling was so childish, but yet so true. ^Street girl. Is that what I was to him all the time ? A bloody street girl. I bet he had many, Mr. Playboy.^ she thought with anger. ^Well at least I know it's over for sure.^ she thought. ^Like that helps a lot.^
While she was thinking she heard a strange noise in her head. It was like a whisper. She couldn't hear it with her ears but could hear it in her brain. She looked around trying to figure out just what was going on. She heard the whisper again. *Psssst* She turned her head to the left where she thought the voice was coming from. She saw some rocks and nothing more. Did she ? She shrugged and stared at it again. Yes there was something there.
She got up and walked up. She saw a black hole in the shadows. She remebered seeing one of these before when she was with Warren in his ski house, that night she was screaming and Juggernaut appeared out of nowhere. She looked at it again. It was as if a portal, big black hole, swirling slowly. She swore she could see a face in it.
There was something about it, something about the way it swirled that attracted her. She lifted up her hand and gently touched the hole. To her surprise her fingers began to disappear in it. She pushed her whole hand in. Suddenly she was hit with a feeling of sudden comfort. Her body felt warm and any thought of worry was gone. She found herself enjoying this, more than she had enjoyed anything in her life. Astonished and wanting more she placed her whole arm in the hole. She didn't feel any pain and she began steeping in the shadow even more. She was now half way through her one leg and arm totally gone. Her body was filled with god like pleasure.
Suddenly a lighting cracked and Betsy opened her eyes wide. Her concentration was lost and she was sent flying in the air, out of the black hole. She landed hard on the ground few meters away and breathed deeply. She looked at the hole shrinking in size and disappearing. She looked down at her body. The parts that went into the hole were slightly burned. Nothing major, she would recover quickly. Maybe no one would even notice. Still that didn't explain what just happened. And she didn't have a slightest clue. She wasn't even able to get a word out of her mouth. She just breathed deeply while staring at the rocks where the shadow was just seconds before.
Underground
Sam entered the kitchen of their new house. As he walked up to a bench he looked around. Iceman and Beast were having a conversation over a cup of coffee. Rogue, Joseph, Remy, Bishop, Scott and Forge sat all around the table not really doing anything, there wasn't even any conversation between them. Sam placed the bags on the bench and began taking out the groceries. Rogue quickly joined him.
"So Sam sugah is still raining outside ?"
"Yeah, just like yesterday."
"Ya 'now they said rain's like this haven't been seen for fifty years."
"Wow."
Rogue began placing the food on the table. Soon it was all ready and they sat down. Without further waiting everyone began eating slowly. There was no conversation save the few words like "please" and "thank you."
Forge grabbed some food off the table and got up and excusing himself. "Ororo asked to bring some food for her. I suppose we can as well eat it together. I'll see you guys later." with these words Forge walked out of the kitchen slowly, still missing a part of his arm.
Gambit made himself a sandwich, as usually spicing it up as much as he could and began eating it slowly staring off somewhere. ^Forge and Stormy seem to have gotten close again.^ he thought. ^What's wrong I'm not jealous, am I ? I got pass Storm the moment I found out she was with Forge. But he better be good to my Stormy. If not he'll have to deal with me.^ Gambit almost smiled at that thought. ^Ororo seems shaken pretty much too. Not only by her power loss. Sarah is a well enough reason. We all thought Sarah died. She told Stormy she didn't do a well good enough job on it. How can you do better than ripping out a heart ? The brat probably has a healing factor. I wasn't really crying when Stormy told me she had to kill Sarah. She was the last thing I needed in my life. But now she comes back. And she doesn't mean any more terrorist actions. Now she's after me. And Stormy in part. Great. I finally manage to build some relationships with the team and then she shows up. Damn this all. At least she left... for now.^
Bishop as usual keeping his diet non fat made himself a sandwich filled with vegetables and very little meat. He ate is casually as if there was nothing wrong. He was doing a good job at hiding the storm inside him. ^History taught us that the X-Men were heroes like no other. Now I know for myself that we are regarded as outlaws and less then heroes. History also said that a traitor killed all the X-Men but one. That one called Witness survived but never revealed who the traitor was. The moment I came here I thought it was Gambit. And I accused him of it until we all found out it was Professor Xavier who was the traitor. Xavier, the noble man. That was a good answer to what I asked I suppose, what happened to Xavier. We knew he didn't die from the traitor, but he disappeared soon. History said nothing about Onslaught. That was because Onslaught never existed. If it wasn't for me remembering the so called Age of Apocalypse timeline Charles would have never gained such power. He still would kill the X-Men but he would dissapear soon and die alone somewhere. Now that I thought about it, it makes sense. If it wasn't for me Onslaught would never evolve. Then again I saved the X-Men from death. Damn it why can't life be easy once ?^
Joseph made himself a sandwich as well, from cheese and lettuce. Biting on it he pulled his long hair out of his face. He seemed troubled but didn't quite know what about. ^Rogue ? I don't think so. It seems I've managed to get over her. Same would go for her. It's my memories. I can feel them coming back every day. Not that they are major. Like yesterday I remembered falling off a bike when I was small and my mother bandaging my leg. Or that time I got beaten up at school because I was a Jew. I came home crying but I wouldn't tell dad what happened. It wouldn't help much either. I was regarded as a schwine there. When these memories come back they feel quite normal. Still what could that mean ? I know that one day I'll get all of my memories back, I can't escape it. But will I mange to grab a hold of myself ? What will the X-Men do ? I love being here more than anything. It feels so good to be a hero. Why didn't I think of that when I was a villain ?^
Rogue made herself some corn flakes and began crunching on them, thinking. ^Sessh I really feel sorry for Bets. I know exactly how she feels. Well maybe not exactly. But quite enough.^ she glanced sideways at Remy who seemed to be deep in his thoughts too. ^I have to tell him.^ she thought. ^It just can't go on like this. We've been like this, neither here or there in the relationship for over a month now. He thought I had something for Joe. Why can't he understand he's the one that's got my heart and always will ? It needs to move on. I need to tell him. I have to.^
Scott didn't eat anything he just sipped on his coffee slowly staring into the cup. The rings on the surface seemed to interest him because he didn't do much more. ^Well. It's a day latter now and I still don't know what I should do. And Jean isn't helping either. I didn't see her all day yesterday, she came back late, she said she was minding to Logan and Professor. That's good I suppose. Still I need her advice. She was sleeping when I got up. She's up now I can sense it. I better go and talk to her. She always helps me out, she's a big part of the dream after all. If there still is a dream. Damn it I have to stop thinking like that. If I give up then who will keep going.^
Later
Rogue began placing the dishes in the dishwasher as everyone began leaving, in silence. Their clouded faces didn't cheer up anyone either. It was terrible. Soon almost everyone was gone. Hank and Bobby went down to the lab, while Scott seemed to head for his room. The rest disappeared somewhere. Everyone except Remy. When they were alone he grabbed her waist pulled her to his chest and began whispering to her ear.
"Chere dis place gives me creeps. Let's take a day off me and ya." Remy could have sworn he saw a smile on Rogue's face when it suddenly disappeared and she sighed. "Wat's wrong ?" he asked still not letting go.
She turned around and looked him in the eyes, still in his embrace. His red eyes burned, burned with love for her she could see it. They didn't even burn that much when he was close to Belladonna. He loved her more than anything. She couldn't do it. She had to. "Remy..." she spoke quietly, trying to stay calm. "Ah... ah can't go on like this more. I love yah. I love ya more than I can imagine."
"But ?" Remy asked his voice trailing off. He cursed at himself wondering where his charm powers suddenly disappeared.
"But.... Ah just can't... Ah can't trust ya. Ah tried sugah, Ah really did. But Ah can't. 'specialy after what Sarah said."
"Chere..."
"No let me finish." she took a deep breath. "Ah still love you. Ah always will. Ah can't stop that. But Ah just can't trust you. When Ah came back with Joe Ah thought Ah could forget about it all and still love ya, but Ah can't. Ah have your memories runnin' 'round mah head. Ah don' know what they are but they're in there. And from what Sarah said it's something bad. Ah'm not gonna go investigating what's goin' on but Ah know Ah just can't go on like this."
"But Rogue.... I.... I can't tell ya. Fine. You want to know ? I'll tell you, if it means we can still be together."
"No Remy... don't. You got everyone's trust here. Except mine. Ah don' wan ya to ruin it cuz of me."
"But..."
"Ah don' wan' t' know what ya did. It won' make any difference. Ah still can't trust ya. I wan' t' but Ah just can't. Ah'm sorry Remy Ah just can't. This is the way I am."
"So it's over ?"
"Yeah, as much as it can be. Ah'm sorry. If it helps anything Ah still love ya. And always will probably. But Ah need to end it before it gets ugly."
She lifted her gloved hand to her lips and kisses her two fingers. Then she placed the fingers on his lips. For few moments she stared into his red eyes, full of pain and denial. Then she broke away from his arms and walked out of the kitchen without looking back.
Remy stood there not moving, more shocked than hurt. He just still couldn't believe it. He touched his lips but there was nothing there. He looked around the room. He saw Sarah's laughing face everywhere.
Morlock Tunnels
The young girl known as Sarah paced around the room nervously. This was the first time she'd been like this. This was the first time she was feeling helpless. Never ever before had she a problem she couldn't solve with force. Not this time. This time Calisto her mentor and only friend was hurt. Seriously hurt. ^It's all their fault.^ she thought. ^If Calisto wouldn't want to save the X-Men from those robots then she would have never gotten hurt. And I wouldn't have to fight alongside with Storm. And now Calisto is sick. I came back from the upworlders and found her asleep. She didn't wake up much. And she's got a fever...^
^If only she had a healing factor like me. When the wind rider pulled out my heart and left me to die alone she didn't suspect that I'd be alive, did she ? She didn't know I had a healing factor. Well I don't know if it's a healing factor. Like it doesn't work on bruises and small stuff like that. Just permanent stuff. I suppose I could smoke all I want. It's weird. Why doesn't Calisto have a healing factor too ? It's just not fair. Damn it's not.^
Somewhere upwards
Scott entered his room slowly. "Jean you in here ?"
#Yeah I'm just taking a shower# she answered back telepathically.
Scott sat down on the bed and sighed. #So what do you think of the whole mess from last week ?#
#I think it's terrible. Logan's hurt. So is Professor. I thought I told you this many times before.#
#I've been thinking Jean. Thinking about the dream. Maybe it has failed. I mean look at us we can't even stand each other anymore. The mansion is gone. Professor is in a comma. It's like everything has fallen into pieces.#
"And you're telling me this because Scott ?" Jean asked stepping out of the bathroom, wrapped in a towel, her wet red hair falling to her back. Scott glanced at her for few brief moments and then returned to his spot he was staring at before.
"I need your help Jean. I need to know what to do, where to go and I can't work it out myself."
"Scott why do you torture yourself over this so much ? We have survived this, we always survive."
"But it's my responsibility as the leader..."
"What about your responsibility as my husband ?"
"What do you mean ?" Scott asked looking up at her. He still didn't see where Jean was going.
"What do I mean ?!" Jean shouted. "When was the last time you comforted me ? The last time you helped me with my problems ? The last time you were there when I needed and wanted you ? You're never here Scott because you're always taking care of the team. But never taking care of me."
"Jean what has gotten into you ?" Scott asked staring at her dumb folded.
"What has gotten into me ? I'll tell you. I'm tired of taking care of everyone. They are all adults they can all manage themselves. But no I'm always there for everyone, but no one ever is for me. Not even you."
"Jean calm down, I never knew..."
"Exactly you never knew. You don't care. All you care about is X-Men."
"Jean I just wanted to ask you for advice."
"Well I'm not giving it." Jean shouted. She turned on her heel and began walking out of the room. At her mere thought the towel she was wearing changed into normal clothes.
"Jean..." Scott said still looking at her. The slam of the closing door was his answer.
Somewhere in New York, in the apartment of Warren Worthington
Warren sat on the floor staring at the wall in front of him, his metallic wings spread behind him. After leaving the mansion, and X-Men he went to the only place he could go too. His apartment. It had been standing empty for few weeks, as he and Betsy lived in the mansion after returning from their vacation. Now he returned to it and was more than happy than he kept it. He spent most of the day sleeping and resting, and thinking his life over. Where was he going to go from here ?
Definitely not to the X-Men. He had enough of being an outlaw. He was still rich, still famous. He didn't need to ruin his life with running around with costumed freaks. If Betsy wanted to do that then it was fine. But he wasn't going to. Their relationship was falling into pieces anyway. It was good it ended. ^If not X-Men then maybe I should try some other group. The world needs heroes now. The question is do I even want to be a hero ? Probably not. Then that's out too. I could just live my life here, I've got more than enough money to live off. Nah that would be boring.^
^I know. My business has sinked. There is no more Woringhton Enterprises because I never had the time to pull it out of the mess it fell into. Stupid hero life. Now that I'm free, maybe it's time to do something useful. Yeah, I like that idea all ready. Maybe it's damn time I started living like a normal person.^
Without further thinking he grabbed the phone and began pressing some numbers.
INTERLUDE 2:
A man walked slowly in the dark. He seemed causal, wearing a long jacket, a par of trousers and a shirt. Once he went past a light pole one could work out his Asian features and long thick black hair. He took a slow turn into a dark alley and stopped in front of a door of what seemed to be a large warehouse. He took out a cigarette and lighted it, hiding from the rain which poured from the dark sky. He remained motionless for many minutes, smoking his cigarette and staring at the door.
Suddenly he felt someone grab him by the neck. A dark figure appeared literary out of nowhere and took a long look at him. For few seconds they both remained motionless, the figure staring at the man, the man staring at it's masked head. Then the concentration broke and the figure let the man go. It glanced for the man to follow him as it disappeared in the shadows. The man opened the door and walked inside. He saw many more figures standing around waiting for him. He stepped up and without a word they all disappeared.
In a blink of an eye they appeared somewhere. The man looked around with suspense and amazement. He had never seen a place like this. His thoughts were interrupted by a voice from the darkness.
"I heard you wanted to talk to me." it said. The man turned his attention to it. He saw a person sitting in front of him. He couldn't recognize his face as it was covered with a shadow but he knew he had the right person. Out of the corner of his eye he saw the figures disappearing leaving him alone.
"Yes master, I have a offer you can't refuse. I want you to..."
"I know what you want of me child. But the price for Crimision Dawn is very high, sometimes deadly."
"I know that master. I am more than prepared for it. As I said before I am prepared to pay."
"I suppose you do convince me then, but I better not regret this."
The man grinned and pulled out his hand to the man on the chair. He glanced at him and saw his face, for the first time. "Don't worry master, you won't regret helping Matuso."
