Princess Jade

Name: Jade Shorin Chan
Position: Princess of Shoryu, founder of Angel's Crest
Origin: Shoryu kingdom
First Appeared: Angel's Crest I
Actress: Noriko Sakai

As princess of her homeland of Shoryu, Jade was to inherit the Crown of Shorin when her father had taken ill.  Rather than allow a girl to take command of the kingdom, however, her uncle usurped the throne and sent men to kill the young princess.  She fled the kingdom, while her uncle reigned over Shorin with an iron fist.
Jade wandered the earth for years, learning about the harshness of life and living off the land wherever she went.  Throughout her exile, she traveled from country to country, growing stronger all the time.  Instead of the timid girl who fled Shoryu so many years ago, Jade learned to rely on herself.
One of Jade's encounters involved an ancient dragon in the land of Wyvern who was fabled to have been as old as the earth itself.  Near death from attacks by dragonslayers, the dragon made a deal with Jade: if she would keep him company and keep him safe until his imminent death, he would reward her with a kingdom of her own.  Jade agreed.  After years of ending off the dragonslayers through sheer craftiness, she sat at the dragon's side as he breathed his last.
With his last breath, the dragon thanked Jade for her loyalty and praised her for her value of life.  He asked her to continue defending the helpless, and his body transformed in a burst of light into a sword of shining silver and gold.  Jade took the sword and named it Dragonwing, and she set off once again.
Eventually, she came to a small village in the wilderness where the people took her in and provided for her.  She learned the village was part of D'Nalyram, a kingdom ruled by a tyrant who allowed the village to be ransacked by barbarians without offering any protection.  Jade recalled the ancient dragon's promise and knew fate had intervened.  She rallied the people, and sallying forth, defeated the royal army and claimed the crown in the name of the people.  She renamed the kingdom "Angel's Crest" after the guardian angels who had watched over the people and guided them to victory.  The people elected Jade their leader and queen, beginning centuries of prosperity under the House of Jade.
