    Katharine describes herself as lucky.  The young queen of Angel's Crest has had more near-death experiences than she cares to remember, but somehow she always makes it through.  Though barely escaping Roga's soldiers when she was smuggled away during the First Dark War, she is later discovered by Megas, who imprisoned her.  She nearly loses her soul in learning the black arts of magic under Sara's tutelage during the Fourth Dark War.  During the war against Laos, she is actually killed but is resurrected when Laos breaks the rules of war and banishes the elder gods from the realm.
    Not the skilled warrior that her sister is, Katharine's talents lie in magic.  She began discovering her powers as a child without any teaching, and once she was restored to the throne, she sought to grow in her powers.  Learning from the royal mages as well as ancient texts, Katharine has come to master spells even the greatest magicians fail to cast.  During the Fourth Dark War, Katharine is forced to fight Arkhane's black magic with her own, learning to channel energy from dark spirits under the guidance of Sara, a Phytian witch.
    During the earlier conflicts, Katharine often ventured with the others into battle.  Following the Dark Wars, however, her role as a public figure have become crucial in the rebuilding of the kingdom and in establishing relations with other nations.  Though she remains at home during battle, she guides her fellows from Ravensong and is occasionally pulled into battle against her wishes.
