Necroptic Soulseeker

Sword
 lichnexus@hotmail.com
This sword appears to be just a hilt, pommel,
and crosspiece roughly the size for a two-handed sword.
It is made of the skeletal remains of a hand and
forearm bone of a human. The forearm bones spread at the end
at a 90 degree angle (forming the crosspiece) going away
from each other, both ending in a mock raptor claw
made of adamantite, clutching a gem. One is a
black sapphire, the other is an extremly rare black diamond
with a sigil upon it, inlayed with blood red ruby dust.
Between the forearm bones is a large, hollowed
crystal filled with some unknown smokey gray dust.
The hand bone is grasping a nice sized king's tear gem  and has a ring on the middle finger.

Nexus was a half-elf (drow) male, muti-classed
necromancer/ specialty priest of Myrkul 18/20 level,
upon attaining lichdom. Before the transformation into lichdom,
he saved a tissue sample to be cloned in case
the lich potion failed.

It was successful. He made the sword to house his phylacery.
The bones and spirit are all that remain of the clone, serving as a
guardian for the phylacery. He now roams the mutiverse
searching for more magic to feed his hunger for knowledge. His
biggest goal is to bring Lord Myrkul back from the dead,
and step in as a favored proxy. The last time he checked in on the
where-abouts of the sword, it was in the possession of a death
knight serving as a general in the Baatezu army on the cubes of
Acheron.

Whenever the
hilt is grasped by a living or undead creature a
blade of glowing "corspelight" apears.
This blade ignores any physical objects as
if it weren't there, including armor, only magic and DEX counts.
INT: 19 EGO:25 ALIGNMENT: Neutral Evil Speaks:
Common, Underdark common, Drow, and Kadari (ancient language of the necromancer kings)
+3 to hit; +3 to dam. 1d10 / 3d6 plus 1d4+1 chill dam.
and save vs. spell or lose 1 point of STR POWERS:
*Command undead at 7th level w/ +3 to roll
*Acts as ring of vampiric regeneration *If an 17-20 is rolled
on the d20 victim must save vs. death magic or lose 1d4 levels
*The sword stores the drained levels as charges and uses
these to cast spells from the school of necromancy
at the cost of one charge per level of the spell

Notes for DM-
The black sapphire has an inter-dimensional pocke
t containing the runes and rites
for whatever necromantic spells you deem appropriate.
The black diamond is the actual phylacery. The king's tear holds the
spirit contained in the sword. The ring is a ring of
vampiric regeneration. The dust is the powdered remains
of various undead. In the event that the sword is weilded
by an undead creature, all powers stay the same with the exception of the chill dam. and STR drain. This is instead replaced
with the special attack of the undead in question.
In the case of the liches destruction, the spirit travels
immeditally to the phylacery. If wielder is alive,
they are drained of all levels and they die, no save,
and the lich takes possession of the body. If undead,
the lich will take control as soon as possible
ie. save vs. spell once aday.
