This medium sized shield is forged in a wavy triangular shape with mitril on the edges and adamantite on the surface. On the front of the shield there is a facial plate of a skull, minus the lower jaw. There are gems inset in the eyes of the skull, giving it an ominous glare of evil sentience. One is a black opal, the other is a fire opal. Beneath the upper jaw of the skull there are two ivory tusks of a reptilian nature

The shield of Myla’tyrr came into being after a successful raid on a Vhaeraun stronghold. During this raid, the leader of the raiding party encountered an undead being of great magical powers guarding the treasure vault of the Vhaeraun priests. This leader was an Arach-knight named Myla’tyrr, a powerful paladin of Lloth, who served in Menzoberranzan’s elite spider knight ranks. In the melee that followed, most of the soldiers accompanying Myla’tyrr were killed, but in the end, her will was strong enough to destroy the undead being. While Myla’tyrr was looting the treasure vault, the guildmaster of the Vhaeraun stronghold appeared to take his revenge. While this drow appeared to be nothing more than a insignificant male, Myla’tyrr was shocked indeed when he transformed into his true form  a deep dragon. In the ensuing battle, Myla’tyrr barely escaped with her life. Although she defeated the dragon, her armor was destroyed by its acidic breath and her body sported horrific burns. Thinking that a deep dragon, a lich, and the clergy of Vhaeraun where cohorts, she immediately sent a messenger to the ruling council to recall the battle and to tell of her fears of a possible religious coup. As it turned out, this guild had no such ambition. They were seeking a monopoly of the areas radiation hot spots. The undead creature also wasn’t a lich, but a dreaded guardian known as an "eye of fear and flame". On a positive note for Myla’tyrr, she was presented with a salve made from the late Matron Malice Do’Urden herself, which was specifically made for acid burns. She was also presented with a set of spiderplate from the ruling council and the wizards of Sorcere were ordered to design a magic item for her to mark her victory. The wizards collected the skull of the undead guardian and the tusks from the deep dragon and went to work. After a hundred cycles of Narbondal, they where finished.
