Spirit Blighter

Bastard Sword
Email
Legends say that the blade will adjust it's length to seem perfect to the one it wishes to claim, shrinking or growing to fit their size. In colour, the sword has none, but in total darkness the sword shines with the light of the auras it has taken, giving it a blue-black sheen...
No baubles adorn the sword, the simple hilt disguising a weapon of baneful power...

During the titanic battle waged between the archmage Theodas Greybark & the demon king Lityuana, in the clashing of earth-rending magics, a sword appeared, forged within the hate-filled fires of the demon's soul, quenched by the cool, dark, menacing purity contained in the half-drow's powerful arts. When it appeared, the mage, immediately recognising the raw power within the blade, used it to smite the demon, the blood spewing from the mortal wound merging with the material of the weapon, changing it forever to the diabolical object it is today...

There have been numerous victims of the blade's hunger, all unfortunates ignorant of the sword's true character until too late, all having their life, their soul drained until the empty husk of flesh that was once a body lies dead...

...most notable of these is Ab-dua the seer, who formed a pact with the intelligence contained to destroy the rebellious forces within the Humano-Elven alliance & Yuatha, the wrathful leader of the Bloody Eye orc tribe, who foolishly sought to bind Spirit Blighter to his will...

In combat, the Spirit Blighter is a powerful weapon, but unless *identified* by a mage of 7th level at lowest, it appears as nothing but a simple bastard sword +3. If however the sword's mind is awakened by the touch of the wizard's questing mind, the wielder will discover himself able to:

a) The weapon can, once per day, convert some of the energy drained to electricity, dealing an additional 1d3d6 (1 die 3 rolls of die 6) damage on a successful strike.

b) Once per week, it can be commanded to raise {ONE} dead body to fight for 1d4 rounds, type determined on the table...
1] Spectre
2] Shadow
3] Wraith
4] Vampire
5] Banshee
6] Revenant
c) The third, and most deadly, power of the sword is the ability to drain the soul of all those within 20', effectively lowering them by 3 levels/hit die...

As to those poor fools drained by the foul blade, *resurrection*, *reincarnation*, etc. is impossible unless cast alongside a mage casting a reversed *Energy Drain*, and a *restoration* is cast within 4 rounds of both spells...

Lord Karjin of the Ruthaka currently wields the blade
