Spiderbane
is a lightweight longsword, with quillons protruding from the lower section
of the blade. Its handle is wrapped in the wing leather of a Black Dragon,
the crosspiece bears twin black opals, and the pommel is set with a large
black opal which glitters when it is held. Along the black blade is engraved
the inscription Kolsen'Shea Orbb, meaning To Pull The Legs Off A Spider.
Spiderbane
was made by Eilistraee with the help of Selune, the Realms Goddess of the
Moon. It was made to counter the powers of the Spider-Knights of Lloth.
However, only one was ever made, unlike Lloth's Holy Swords.
The
only previous owner of Spiderbane was Sedriloth, the good drow fighter.
He accomplished a massive quest culminating in the discovery of Spiderbane
and the consequent slaying of Anaxazoras Quin'Al Do'Ne'Ezshaer, a greater
demon lord of the Abyss, with it. Needless to say, Anaxazoras etc etc etc
was not happy. Sedriloth was killed by Berg'inyon Baenre when the drow
of Menzoberranzan destroyed Tiranoc, the city of good drow.
The

Ul'ilindith del'Jal, Drow Paladin of
Eilistraee.
