Sargtlin
is about two and a half feet in length
the weapon features a broad blade crafted
from a dark dull grey
material and is set into the rest of
the sword by an ornate gold fixture
which leads back to a largr C shaped
cross-guard the center of which sports a
small ivory skull. a second cross-guard
extends straight out beneth the first and is made from adamantite the grip
is trimmed in ivory and gold and the pommel is fashioned into a medalion
sporting the same ivory skull carving as set into the cross-guard
Mighty
Sargtlin, Soluafein Helviiryn's short sword of speed was forged
nearly a 1000 years ago not suprisingly
near the drowric hold known as Menzoberranzan by the master craftsmen and
weaponsmith, Nhym Nearth who held the process of its manufacture secret.
Suprisingly the weapon was not forged rather it was cast from an alloy
partially made from
adamantite and other more exotic materials
known only to Nyhm, the combination of which created a composite
alloy that was lighter, held its edge better and retained its enchantment
even in the pressence
of sunlight.
Naturally as word of Nyhm's achievment
spread several envious eyes cast thier gaze upon the master craftsmen and
his work. Nyhm being no fool decided to sell his services to the highest
bidder. Naturally House Baenre quelled most competition with more than
a subtle threat to both Nyhm and the competeing factions for his service.
Entering into the employ of Baenre the master craftsman returned to his
home to gather his equipment, notes and supplies.
Doing so the weaponsmith began his journey
back to Menzoberranzan and House Baenre. As he made his way back the weaponsmith
fell victim to the attacks of one of the competeing noble houses. the battle
was short and Nhym was thouroghly beaten. As the sucessfull attackers closed
in on Nhym, the weaponsmith flung his prized weapon over a ravine and immolated
himself and his possessions as well as the attackers in revenge. So the
secret of his work as well as his only surviving example was lost to the
underdark until the weapon was discovered by agents of House Helviiryn
in nearby Ched Nassad.

Nhym Naerth, the formerly nameless weapon has had but one other owner ...Soluafein
Helviiryn
Abilities
Sargtlin
is similar in function and ability to a regular sword of sharpness
except the weapon has been uniquely
crafted for the underdark environment.
Where the weapon would normally shed
light, instead it extends the range of the useres infravison in the same
way it would provide a circle of light, Also due to the weapons keen edge
and enchantment, it works equally well as a piericing and slashing weapon.
Finally the sword weighs half as
much as a regular weapon of its size
and construction
While
the sword confers no obvious protection on its wielder the
weapon itself is immune to the effects
of electricity and fire, furthermore it
doesn't conduct electricity or heat.
The sword saves as the best of metal, rock and crystal
Befiting
its design as a drowric weapon the sword is
also enchanted to make no sound as it
strikes or if it falls from the
wielder's grasp
