This quarterstaff is six feet long, and made of a strong, deep black wood, with platinum runes set on the top and handgrip of the weapon.

It is currently held by Alierra Shodoul, a human air-mage of great power.

The materials for this weapon were stolen from the stores of a recently exterminated dwarven outpost encroaching on the outer tunnels of the city of Sshamath. It was enchanted by Malaggar Xarann, in an effort to replenish stores of gold depleted by excess spending and gaining leverage over the rising power of the Air-Magic faction of the elemental guild.

This weapon was bought from the Master of Enchantment by the Elemental Guild's air faction . . . for about two weeks, until it was stolen by a neophyte mage of earth magic. He smuggled it from the school, and escaped into the marketplace, where he was promptly assassinated for it. The killer fled unnoticed into the shadows, where she unexpectedly stumbled into a human woman sneaking through the city. After a short battle, the victorious air-archmage took her prize and made her way carefully out of the city.

Abilities: 
The Blacklight Staff has been enchanted to be of a quality three times better than a regular weapon (modify by 3whatever). The weapon gives its weilder the staff proficiency when there is none, and allows mages proficient in the weapon to specialize, but only when SiNach'et is the staff being used. On a successful hit, two charges can be expended to cause an electric strike to occur along with the physical damage of the blow, doing an additional 2-16 points of damage. There is no resistance to this effect, and the command word, "Zotreth", must be used.

Through mental command from the weilder, SiNach'et can summon a small (6') globe of black light around itself that is invisible to all but the weilder and anyone else touching the staff. The light is equivalent to that of faerie-fire. This power ordinarily costs nothing, but the light will also dispel globes of darkness, one for every charge spent to do so.

 The last power of the staff is its ability to store up to three lightning bolt spells. Each spell takes five charges to store, and these are spent at the time when the spells are set inside the staff. The Blacklight Staff has twenty-five charges, and can be recharged by using the shocking grasp spell, with each casting adding 1-8 charges. It has no retributive strike ability and can not be broken by anyone with less than 20 strength, but if overcharged, it will not operate at all for as many hours as charges over maximum.
