Il'yetre was created by the drow mage Dralfien who sought to use the Hook Horror's awsome powers to protect himself. He promptly bade his warrior servant to seek out and kill a Hook Horror, and bring the body back. Dralfien used the Hook Horror's armor and claws to create the staff. He imbued the staff with the power to polymorph the user into a Hook Horror or summon several Hook Horrors to the user's aid. 

During one battle, the summoned Hook Horror turned on Dralfien and slaughtered him. A few years later, a nameless drow mage discovered Il'yetre while on patrol. Another mage, Scryzzimir of House Fryth'zalmon of Menzoberranzan, noticed the staff's powers and grew jealous. Soon, he slid a knife between the nameless mage's shoulderblades and took the staff for himself. He currently wields it.  

Abilities
The staff functions as +3 normally. It can summon 1d4 Hook Horrors twice per day. It also has the ability to polymorph the user into a Hook Horror for eight hours, once per day.
 
The staff can create a ring of magical armor that surrounds the user. It does not not hinder movement at all. The shield protects the user from both magical and physical attacks.(Aromor class set at -2, +50% magical resistance)This ability can be used once per day, it lasts for five hours. 

There is also a 5% chance that the summoned Hook Horrors turn on the user.
