Minotaurs of Tyrissia come in two distinct varieties and are refered to as the Civilized and the
Primative. Primative minotaurs are the ones most players are used to. Strong, violent, and pretty stupid but cunning fighters. The civilized ones are far more intelligent, (this world has seen more than one Minotaur Wizard), and more culturally advanced having created a small kingdom called
Kypirus on a group of islands.

Primative Minotaurs
The Primative minotaur (not available for PC's), typically stand about 8 feet tall, with a
powerful human torso, thick fur over most of their body and a bull-like head crowned with long
horns. Their hairy hands end in short claws and their feet are hooved.

Civilized Minotaurs
The civilized minotaur is very similar, but clearly different from the primative species. First, they
are not quite as large. They usually stand about 7 feet tall (though some have been as tall as 8
feet, this is rare). Their fur is short and not as course, often ranging from black to light brown
or blond. Their horns vary from 14 to 24 inches in length and are often decorated with etchings
and jewelry (such as gold rings and metal points). Their hands end in short claws too, but
these are cleaned, sharpened and sometimes painted and their feet are human-like, not hooved.
All minotaurs are color blind, and get -2 (or -10%) penalties on any type of detection skills.

Culture
The minotaurs of Kypirus are a very reclusive race, not desiring contact from the other races.
Most other races are content to let these powerful creatures be, but in times past, the minotaurs
were the target of various crusades. In every case, the minotaurs proved to be a formidable
species and often chased their enemies right to the very gates of their cities, destroying lands,
homes and castles alike. The last such incident was rather recent (80 years ago) when the
Sorcerer Kings of the League Magus waged a vengeful crusade against the minotaurs due to the
lost loved one of a cousil elder, killed by a minotaur warrior. The last remains of the University
et Magus can be seen in jagged fragments near the place where the new one stands today.
Fortunately, for the rest of the world, the minotaur breeding period is relatively short and most
mated pairs have only 1 or 2 offspring. Therefore their population has always remained low.

Minotaur Warriors
- More than any other trait, minotaurs pride themselves in their physical
strength. Warriors tend to use weapons that require great strength to wield (great swords,
bastard swords, bardiches, halbards and mauls are most common). Armor usually consists
of studded leather, chain or banded mail. (a few examples of minotaur plate armor exist).

Minotaur Wizards
- Such members of the minotaur society are few and far between, often
holding possitions of great power but still under the rule of their king. They, like most mages in
Tyrissia, are looked upon with awe, even fear, and tend to be very secretive and mysterious.

Minotaur Priests
- Minotaurs might oppose a war-leader, or family, even a king, but few
would oppose the will of their gods. The clerics hold the highest possition in minotaur society,
second only to the king, and the High Counsil of Gods, (the high level preists) are the only
ones who can depose a king from the thrown without the need to challenge him in combat. To
date, there has only been one known case of this ever happening.
