War Axe

The Dungeon

This fearsome weapon looks like a huge four bladed battle axe. The head of the axe has four blades set at an angle to form a broad X shaped with about 20 degrees between the opposing blades on each side. The haft is ornament and about 6 feet long. The axe also has a spike at the bottom of the haft.

The axe has a + 5 bonus to hit and to damage and functions as both a vorpal blade and dancing sword. The weapon is of chaotic good alignment and has an intellegence of 16. It can speak Common, Elven, Minotaur, Dwarven, Goblin, Gnoll, Orc, and Dragon Common. Although it can not read any language. The axe inflicts 2d10+5 points of damage on each hit and will cut of the target's head off on a modified roll of 20 or higher. After four rounds of normal use the axe will start to dance, attacking on it's own for four rounds before returning to the wielder for another four rounds.

This weapon is particular deadly against
magic using creatures. Any magic using creature struck must save vs. death or be disintegrated. The axe also bestows a 50% magic resistance on its wielder.

The axe has a number of special abilities, all of which function at 20th level of ability.

The axe has an ego of 33 and a personality score of 49, it will attempt to dominate any posessor other than Clovis. But the main curse of this item is that, although it is no longer under the influence of the Molydeus, the Molydeus still hunts the planes
for it's possessor.

This weapon was originally the property of a Molydeus, one of the more powerful creatures of the Abyss. The axe found its way out of the Abyss when the great warrior, Clovis Minos, traveled to the Abyss and fought with the Molydeus. During the fight Clovis wrestled the terrible weapon from the Molydeus' grasp. And at the end of the fight the molydeus was forced to flee leaving it's axe in Clovis' possession.

At that point the axe was a powerful item to be assured, but still much like any other Molydeus' axe. It was later when Clovis strove with the powers of Darkness and the evil avatar Shar Harden that the axe gained it's powerful enhancements. Clovis and each of his allies faced a test as they strove to prevent a rift from rending the
earth apart.

As a reward for overcoming his challenge the axe was imbune with other magical properties. It is also rumored that the Great Archmage Ecllipse (one of Clovis' companions) enchanted the item further. The item is known to still be in the
possesion of Clovis.
