Pellucidar Field Trip

"For the purpose of winnowing the field of Martial Science to allow only the best and the brightest to succeed,
the Pellucidar trip has proven to be an invaluable resource." --Prof. Anados DuLac

Perhaps one of the highlights of the academic year for all of our final year Martial Science students (and select students from other departmental disciplines) is the annual field exercise to Pellucidar. The genesis of the field trip was the result of a serendipitous trip taken by Profs. DuLac and Kalway in the summer of 1997. During a routine arctic expedition funded by Miskatoncorp. and the Federatione del Norm Internationale the two colleagues discovered a portal of indeterminate origin/destination. Further investigation revealed that the portal was indeed the "hollow-earth" vestibule posited seperately by both Verne and Burroughs (and stumbled upon in June of 1969 by Lt-Col. Travis Morgan as recounted in the Grell manuscripts). Started in 1998 by Prof. DuLac, the purpose of the trip is to give our advanced students some hands on experience in the field in both combat and research methods. Combining such areas of study as crypto-zoology, advanced temporal/spatial field mechanics, martial sciences, and data gathering and transmission the trip has proven to be a very worthwhile experience.

The attrition rate for the program has never gone above 33%, a fact of which MUS is rightly proud. Aiding Prof. DuLac in his advising duties are Prof. Countwill and the newly appointed Lara Croft. Each brings their own varied expertise and can-do attitude to the project. Major discoveries made as a result of this annual trip have included:

Please peruse some of the images culled from previous field trips below. All Martial Science students are registered in the program in their final year. Students of other Faculties who wish to participate must see Ms. Godreche at Palomides Hall for the appropriate forms and waivers. Permission of two senior faculty members and a thorough psychological/medical exam are required.
