Praxis Seizure: Kosice 1999

This was the second Praxis Seizure tournament in Kosice. Fifteen players took part on it, 10 from Kosice (Slovak Republic), three from Prague (Czech Republic) and two from Bratislava (Slovak Republic). Mikulas Dug, Prince of Kosice 1998, tried to gain his title again, but after a hard struggle in a final round another player, Branislav Baco, won a tournament. All games were very close and neither VPs nor TPs were sufficient to decide, who should go to a final round. We used the number of pool as a tertiary tie-breaker. In such way, David Korejtko from Prague was unlucky and he missed the final round. The atmosphere were great and I hope to see players from other cities again.

First round:

1.table: Brano - Mikulas - David K. - Dusan - Jaro

This were a political table with lots of votes. Dusan's Princes healed him a lot (Minion Tap+5th Tradition), but when David forced him to pay for his vampire via Hostile Takeover, he was ruined and David finished him. Later he also ousted Jaro. Mikulas could not bleed, because his predator Brano bled too heavily, so he should build defense. He had Artemis with Blessing of Chaos and Sengir Dagger, but after a long struggle Brano finished him.
2.table: David D. - Simon - Ondra - Milos - Rudo
Settites were very aggressive - they bled and corrupted and Rudo was in bad condition. Whole table viewed them as a threat, so they politically ousted Milos. Then this table changes to fighting arena. Simon's Stanislava and Ondra's Sheldon fought strongly, using Animalism and Fortitude. Simon succeeded and he massacred Ondra's vampires and then he finished their master. Rudo was ousted in a while.
3.table: Lubo - Zsolt - Tomas - Vlado - Laco
Lubo's weenies had a problematic prey - Zsolt prepared a wall deck, so he was ousted after very long time. And another wall - Tomas's Ravnos - was Lubo's prey then. Of course, Laco didn't wait and he bled Lubo. But just before he could finish him, Vlado used his Dramatic Upheaval and gained VP. Then two Ravnos started to contest - Joaquina, Konstantin and Park Hunting Ground. When two people are fighting, third one wins - Vlado ousted Tomas and only time limit saved Laco.

Second round:

1.table: Vlado - Lubo - Brano - David K. - Simon

This was a very quick table. David waited until Lubo bled Brano nearly to death and he swapped places with him. But he made a small mistake, because Lubo was in bad state too, so Brano finished his previous predator and he gained VP. But then, his vampires were killed by Simon's fighters and David had clear way. Gangrel warriors killed Vlado's vampires too. Thus two Czechs stood against themselves and they decided to tie.
2.table: Tomas - Zsolt - Dusan - Rudo - Jaro
Rudo's political actions and bleeds were too much for Jaro and he was ousted soon. Then Rudo started to attack Tomas. Dusan did not like his seating position and he tried to change it with Kindred Restructure. He was successful, despite two Delayed Tactics were played against him. But this was a great mistake, because he had to bleed Zsolt's wall and Ravnos horde deprived him. Later he tried to swap his position again, but Tomas blocked his activities and finished him soon. But this did not help him, because Rudo bled him to death next turn.
3.table: Ondra - Laco - David D. - Milos - Mikulas
Mikulas worked very quickly on Ondra and ousted him very soon. But this was his only VP at this table, because he was unable to go through Laco. So, Milos's Settites slowly bled him to death. Ravnos wall defended his master also against Milos. Most luck and power had David who finished Milos and then weakened Laco.

Third round:

1.table: David D. - Vlado - David K. - Brano - Simon

Interesting game. David K. started with Succubus Club and cooperated with his Prague mate. The rest of table did not like it, so they all started to attack both Czechs. And when David D. stole Succubus Club ... Czech fate was dark and they were ousted.
2.table: Lubo - Milos - Tomas - Rudo - Zsolt
Lubo started as usual and quickly ousted Milos. But his next prey was Tomas and his wall of Ravnos, so this was his only VP. Zsolt slowly bled Lubo to death and then he tried to attack Tomas. At this time, the table was horribly slow - some players had only reaction and prevent cards in their hands. But later the game speeds up, because Tomas's defense were too strong. Thus Zsolt were weakened and Rudo finished him. Finally, Tomas had more luck and he ousted Rudo.
3.table: Jaro - Laco - Ondra - Dusan - Mikulas
Dusan again made chaos at the table. He changed position twice, but instead helping himself he only improved Mikulas's situation. In such way, Mikulas ousted firstly Jaro, then Ondro and finally Laco.

Final round: David D. - Mikulas - Brano - Vlado - Simon

This was a political finals. Many Banishments - once against Simon's Raven and everybody was for because Bribes were played. Other Banishments were against Virgil (Mikulas) - unsuccessful and Stanislava (Simon) - successful. Nice were two David's Kiss of Ra against Mikulas's vampires, but then he made great mistakes and both his vampires fell to torpor. Brano bled Vlado to death, then politically weaken Simon, ousted him by bleeds and finally diablerized David's vampires. David tried to survive, but Lasombras finished him, too. Previous Prince Mikulas fought bravely, but new one showed him, who is the master. Welcome, Brano Baco, Prince of Kosice 1999!
