My name is Shay Branum, and this page is all about me -- a biography of sorts.  I hope you enjoy your visit.

That's me above.  I do have a nickname that I use on the internet, and that is pixie.  I don't know why I chose that nickname actually.  I guess the general conception of what a pixie is describes how I feel usually.  I can be very serious, but when I'm with my friends, I tend to joke alot.  In fact, sometimes my mind is on a mini vacation when it should be paying attention to matters at hand.

I have to admit that the cyber realm is pretty new to me.  I've only been on the net for about 2 years now.  Back then, I would never have guessed that I'd be designing my own WebPages.  It's so much fun and one of the hobbies that I do when I should be studying for my MCSE exams to become a network administrator.

The 70's

Now I'll tell you a little about my background.   I have spent my life living in Florida.  I was born in Orlando in 1970,   and shortly moved to Miami.  We spent a few years living in Homestead A.F.B. since my father was a pilot.  In 1977 we moved to a small town up in north Florida which was a big change from the city life of Miami.

I've spent the past 20+ years living in this same town except for moving away temporarily to go to college at Florida State University.  I earned a B.S. degree in Social Studies Education.  I have been teaching social studies since 1991, and I'm ready to take a break.  I am now pursuing my MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) which I hope to have this spring or early summer.  

I have met many friends through chat, and I want to credit them for always lifting my spirits when I'm down.  Mike, Devon, Tracy, Bonnie, Angela, George, Bri, and Rod are just a few of the people I have met in chat, and I feel like I can tell them anything.  They are the best friends anyone could have.   I don't want to forget I am Lost, LadyGrey, AOR, ME,  and Mr. Bun for being great chat buddies.

Why is the name embee spinning above?  Well that is because I just married the love of my life after meeting him on the internet!   Yes, things like that do happen for real.  His real name is Mike and he is a teacher.  He has a Masters Degree in mathematics, and two Bachelors in mathematics and education.  We met last May while talking in   X-Files foxchat and were married June 18, 1998.  I met my soulmate, and he says he'll love me 'Always and Forever.'

Besides working on my WebPages, I love going to the movies or just popping a video in the VCR while being a couch potato.  After teaching middle/high school students from 7:30 to 3:00 and incurring their wrath, the last thing I want to do is be around a noisy environment.  That's why I love working on my computer or just taking it easy.  Anyone who knows me can tell you what my favorite TV show is -- The X-Files.  In fact, I have an X-Files site that you can take a peek at later.  I belong to several X-Files groups on the internet, and you can find other X-Philes at the official fox bulletin board.  I am a member of FMU (F.B.I.'s Most Unwanted).  We have our own bulletin board for our members  as well as our own room at foxchat.  It is through IRC that I met the friends listed above. 

I am also a spirit fairy for The Site Fights.  My name is Fairy Pixie, and my job is to cheer for and dust the guestbooks of the people who have entered their site into The Site Fights.  It is alot of fun and another great way to meet new people.  Here is my banner...
