Robert E. Howard, the creator of "Conan the Barbarian" was born on January 24, 1906. He had some success writing for "Weird Tales" before writing his first "Conan" novel in 1932. Sadly, only four years later, despondent over his mother's terminal illness and imminent death, on June 11, 1936, at the age of 30, Robert E Howard, the creator of "Conan the Barbarian" took his own life, never to know how successful his "Barbarian" would later become. His mother died the following evening. His final words found on his typewriter:
All fled, all done
So lift me on the pyre.

And the lamps expire
