Species 6339


Like many other alien species Voyager has encountered, Species 6339 is a humanoid race that lives in the Delta Quadrant of the Milky Way Galaxy. The Voyager crew first came in contact with Species 6339 in 2375, when Voyager stumbled across a modified Borg vinculum meant to destroy the Borg. When Seven of Nine developed multiple personalities because of this device, Janeway had the vinculum beamed into engineering. This made Species 6339 quite upset. It was then that the crew found out that Species 6339 had been nearly wiped out when the Borg assimilated their world. In order to get revenge, a few members of that species injected themselves with a technological virus. Once the Species 6339 volunteers were assimilated, the virus spread throughout a Borg cube and destroyed it. Species 6339 was hoping to repeat this process and destroy more vessels by allowing the Borg to retrieve the vinculum without any knowledge of the fatal virus hidden inside. However, the Voyager crew stopped their plan of revenge in order to save Seven of Nine's life. It was also discovered that Species 6339 is more technologically advanced than the Federation.
