The Emperor's New Cloak
Well, I wasn't really looking forward to this episode. Once I finally did see it, I found it to be surprisingly entertaining. I was pleasantly surprised by the appearance of the mirror Vic Fontaine, who wasn't a hologram, and the nice Brunt. I also enjoyed seeing the Intendent and all the other mirror characters. Along with that, I was glad to see the Nagus and his assistant one more time before DS9 ends. Some other highlights of the show were the nice exterior and interior shots of DS9/Terok Nor. Oh, I enjoyed Dennis McCarthy's music as well, and it earns a spot on the top three Season 7 musical scores list. (The list now includes "The Siege of AR - 588"/Paul Baillargeon, "Chrysalis"/Jay Chattaway, and "The Emperor's New Cloak"/Dennis McCarthy.) Although there were many things I liked about the episode, there were many things I disliked. One of them is the fact that the mirror universe stories on DS9 have become comedy episodes instead of dramatic episodes, like the first mirror story "Crossover". Another was the Intendent/Ezri scenes, which I could have done without. Well, that's about it. All in all, I found this episode to be very entertaining at times and kind of silly at others. My Rating : 8.75 out of 10.00, the best Ferengi episode besides "The Magnificent Ferengi". (8.75 is the same rating that I gave "Chrysalis", but I would have to say that "Chrysalis is better than this episode.) NEXT WEEK : Field Of Fire -- Ezri investigates a murder of the station.
