Prodigal Daughter

Well, "Prodigal Daughter" was yet another great Ezri episode. Although I thought the episode got off to a rather slow start, the pace started to pick up as time went on. Everyone in Ezri's family was pretty interesting. (Ezri's mother kind of reminded me of the woman that was the leader of the isolated planet in "Paradise". Also, the large dining room that we see Ezri and her family eating dinner in seemed an awful lot like part of the house on top of Mount Everest from Season 4's "Our Man Bashir.) I was surprised when the identity of the murderer was revealed. It wasn't until Ezri started to ask questions about the murder that I figured out who it was. There weren't very many scenes using special effects in this episode, but the scenes of the New Sydney buildings were nice. I liked how we could see people through the windows while we were treated to a view of the facility's exterior. It made those scenes seem more realistic. Dennis McCarthy's music for "Prodigal Daughter" was nice and earns a spot on the top three DS9 musical scores of the season list. (The other two musical scores are Paul Baillargeon's score for "The Siege of AR - 558" and Jay Chattaway's score for "Chrysalis".) The music seemed to add to the atmosphere of every scene, espcially the scene where O'Brien discovers that one of Ezri's family members was involved in the murder. Well, that's about it. All in all, "Prodigal Daughter" was a very enjoyable episode. It was certainly one of the better episodes this season. (Not that any of the other episodes were bad.) My Rating : 10.00 out of 10.00 -- NEXT WEEK : A rerun of "Shadows and Symbols"
