"I'm sorry."

Jadzia Dax --- Tears of the Prophets

A Tribute to Jadzia Dax

2341 - 2374

Jadzia Dax was assigned to Space Station Deep Space Nine in 2369, shortly after Starfleet took over the station. Dr. Julian Bashir was immediately attracted to her, but she didn’t return the feeling.

Jadzia was joined with the Dax symbiont in 2367. Dax’s former host, Curzon, was Captain Sisko’s mentor. Sisko remained friends with Dax after she received a new host body. Sisko was used to calling Curzon “old man.” He used to call Dax by that same name, even though Dax had a young, female host.

Jadzia served aboard Deep Space Nine for over 6 years. About nine months before her death, Dax married Lt. Comm. Worf. Dax and Worf were thinking about having a child when she was killed.

Before she died, Jadzia was told by Doctor Bashir that it was possible for her and Worf to have a child. She went to the Bajoran temple on the station because she wanted to thank the prophets. While she was in the temple, the lights went off and Gul Dukat beamed into the room. Jadzia drew her phaser, but Dukat hit her with a powerful energy beam. He was possessed with a pai - wraith at the time. The beam was powerful enough to kill her, although Dr. Bashir was able to save the Dax symbiont.

The Dax symbiont was rushed to the Trill homeworld and a memorial service was held for Jadzia. Although Jadzia died a senseless death, she will always be remembered as being as honorable as any Klingon.
