Cardassian Orbital Weapon Platforms




The Cardassian orbital platforms are unmanned, orbital stations that are controlled by a central source. The platforms are very powerful, but a great weakness lies within the central power source. Using the main deflector dish, a Federation starship can imprint a false signature on the central power source. This makes the platforms destroy the source, thinking that it is the enemy. Once the power source is destroyed, the platforms deactivate themselves.

The first known use of the Cardassian orbital platforms was in 2374, when the Cardassians deployed hundreds of them throughout the Chin’toka system before abandoning it to patrol the Romulan border. The platforms were equipped with 1,000 plasma torpedoes each, and they used regenerative forcefields, which kept the enemy from damaging them. The platforms have three weapons pylons which spread and open fire when activated.
