Jem' Hadar Hand Rifle



The Jem' Hadar Hand Rifles are rifle - like weapons used by the Jem' Hadar, the shock troops of the Dominion. The rifles look like any regular weapon, but they have one deadly feature : anticoagulants. The anticoagulants are transferred along with the energy beam. When a humanoid is struck with the beam, the anticoagulant enters the body, making it very difficult to heal, unless a medical bay is close by. Starfleet first learned about the use of anticoagulants in Dominion weapons in 2373, when Captain Benjamin Sisko and his crew were attacked by Jem' Hadar forces while salvaging an abandoned Jem' Hadar Attack Ship. A year later, Lt. Commander Jadzia Dax (featured above, shortly after being hit with an energy blast from the rifle) almost fell victim to the anticoagulants within the Jem' Hadar energy beam.

The Jem' Hadar are usually seen with the rifles while on a planetary surface, probably due to the fact that they are of better use in the open than a handheld weapon.
