I love art! In fact, I love it so much that I am majoring in art at UW-River Falls. I figure since I am planning on making art my life in one way or another, why not start my own web portfolio? Besides, by the time I enter the work force, everyone will have their portfolios on the computer. Move over Big Brother, the internet is here.
These pictures are obviously not professional quality, but it is the best I can do. I think most of them are not bad though since I took them myself. I was lucky I didn't get back a roll of blurry ceiling shots - I may be an artist but I am not much of a photographer.
One of my favorites since I can actually wear it! I only had about 6 school days to make this one. AACK! But the stress was worth it. This bracelet also won a blue ribbon at the Dakota County Fair.
I really love southwestern motifs. The little character is a sillouhette of Kokepelli, the native american god of fertility and harvest.
I had alot of fun doing the dragon on this pot. I was pleased with the final outcome since it actually looked like I had planned - no runny or faded glaze. Thank goodness there was no running or it would have been runied. If only the making of the pot itself had been as easy...btw, this was made with red clay so I had to glaze the pot with white and be ever so carefull not to overlap with the dragon. AAHH!
This was mostly an experiment with glaze that turned out really cool! Luckily, the red didn't cause the pot to stick to the kiln because the red glaze is typically runny. In the middle there is a place for a candle but I've never used it for a candle votive.
Childhood Christmas is a pastel of my sister and I taken from a childhood christmas picture. The actual is a lot larger and much more colorful but my scanner isn't that great. I had this professionaly framed because of the akward dimensions and it is sooo pretty. I finally hung it in the dining room of my house and my parents just can't get enough of it!
There is more to this fantasy scene as well but since I have a smaller scanner, I just scanned my favorite part. This picture took me forever! The assignment was to turn a part of our school into a surreal or fantasy scene. Say fantasy to me and what do I think of first? Princesses, elves and unicorns of course. There is a cute unicorn in there but like I said before, it wouldn't fit.
Princess and Mystic were done for a sketch book assignment but I really liked the way they both turned out. Hey, they may be absolutely worthless and silly but they are great for pointalism and still life subjects...
"China Girl" and "Kitty Close-up" were created during a night of boredom. The kitty was from a photo off of Beastly Cat which has lots of artisic shots of the webmistress' cat - many of which are great for detail peices!
Another afternoon of boredom.
Yet more boredom. This picture is a pastel that I did when experimenting with pastels for my drawing class. I also entered it into the Dakota County Fair last summer and got a blue.
These two were done while I was on an Alaska mission trip with my church. We kids were rather bored one night. Micaiah saw me doodling in my book and demanded that I draw her...so I did ;) Then she wanted me to draw Casey, and when I was finished the resemblance was eerie! I will have to try and find a photo and put it next to the drawing for comparison. But anyway...to this day Micaiah hails me as the portrait goddess - to which I smile and nod.
Well okay maybe this isn't all that artistic or anything but it still took me about 45 minutes to edit...and it is kinda cool. This is what I really look like in a bikini (in my dreams). I am also on the verge of becoming a swimsuit model (in my windowless bedroom studio) and pretty soon (in a few millennia) you just might find ME on the cover of this catalog! Till then the original pic is hanging on my dorm room door ;) "No dad, its not soft porn..."
"Bonzai" is a jewel tree that I made from a pattern in a jewel tree book that I found in a rock shop. It is made with gold wire, masking tape, and florists tape. The stones are peridot and rose quartz, and the tree is mounted on a base of oriental gold. It fits in perfectly with my Mulan doll collection!
"Fantasy Tree" (as named in the pattern) is yet another jewel tree (I have made quite a few but so far have only pictured the best). I entered this one at the Dakota County Fair and won an award of exellence! The silver wire and amethyst stones look beautiful together, and the agate slice base is the perfect compliment. The sliver unicorn figure I added helps to complete the fantasy look (you probably can't see the unicorn in the picture, but it is there). This tree fits in perfectly with the rest of my porcelain unicorn collection.
