![]() Like many of us, my first exposure to dolls was when I was shorter than the kitchen counter, and my life revolved around playing with toys. However, at this point, Barb was a mere plaything who was constantly left undressed and hair uncombed in my doll trunk. But soon I was told that I was too old to play with dolls anymore. My world was turned upsidedown and I realized that somehow, I would have to keep dolls in my life. Collecting provided that safe, mature outlet. Of course, I started with Barbie. The first was the 1996 Happy Holidays Barbie. I was immediately captivated by the dark, lucious red velvet dress, silky golden hair, and bright blue eyes. Half of my collection consists of Barbie, and I love every one! ![]() My Barbie pages:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I also love to collect porcelain dolls. I don't know exactly how many I own, but let me just say that combined with my Barbies, there is not enough space in my room for all of them. I am only 18 (not even living on my own) and I already have a "doll room"! I mostly buy from Paradise Galleries (they have BEAUTIFUL dolls that are rather low priced) and department stores. Maybe someday when I make my millions I will be able to expand my horizons to more collectible types. But till then, I am going for looks and low price! ![]() My most recent doll discovery was when I met Gene. If you haven't heard of her yet then God help you (have you left your house in the past 4 years?). She is stunning! I only have one brunette and recently ordered a red-head. The brunette looks GREAT in El-Morrocco, which I won a few years back at a Gene show. I have also been making a few of my own outfits for her and, to my relief, they have all fit perfectly. Eventually I will have to take pictures of them and maybe display them on this site (do I see dollar signs in my future? Probably not). Hey - did you know that Gene's name before she became a big Hollywood star was Katie? Weird huh. I love it when dolls have my name.
