General Background

Diane was born in Bexar County Texas, on a warm spring afternoon. Her mother had asked not to be told the sex of the child, and her father agreed. When Diane's bother Dante was born her mother (Regina) didn't expect to deliver eight minutes later. Yes, she'd had twins, and both parents were overjoyed.

Throughout their early childhood, the twins were inseperable. However, when they were seven, Dante developed a rare illness. Their parents were broken hearted, until Dante Sr. learned of a tretment practiced in ShiKahr, on Vulcan.

Diane loved Vulcan, it was hot like San Antonio during the summer and the animals were similar to the desert creatures there. Her parents felt at home on Vulcan, particularly since her mother had hated the torrential rains of San Antonio's winters.

On Vulcan the twins began in classes taught for Earth children, but were quickly moved to Vulcan classes.

Diane's older sister married a young southern gentleman who had been studying at the Vulcan Academy of Science. Diane and Dante were left to care for their younger sister Ginny, after school. Diane made the acquaintance of Subik, an intern with the great Healer of ShiKahr when she was found nursing an ill LeMatya cub. The LeMatya are a predatory feline similar to the earth tiger, they are very dangerous and avouded when possible even by Vulcans. Diane was approached by the beasts mother and they had an instant rapport. The beast became a playmate and she maned it Ishiva, it's child was taken back to the wild, but Diane was very stealthy when it came to the mother. When Diane was old enough she took the entrance exams for Starfleet. Starfleet academy was surprised by her ESPer rating and contacted Vulcan. They were informed that not only was Diane empathic, but she was an adept telepath as well. She'd spent several years learning mind-shielding techniques. Starfleet Academy accepted her, but not before the Vulcans taught her how to harness her abilities.

Diane studied very hard at the Academy and discovered a hand written journal by the USS Enterprise's first medical officer, Dr. Sarah April. The work done by Dr. April during her lifetime so enthused Diane that she decided to specialize in one of the medical fields. She would become a surgeon.

Her first deep space assignment was the Stellar Wind, NCC-1501A, where she was temporarily given the post as Frist Officer since she was the only officer onboard besides an Admiral.

Her second posting was as a surgeon under Commander T'Mepest, where she was the first to opperate on a Trill, though it has since been classified as Secret thanks to the Trill Symbiosis Commission.

After that, she met Commander Theban Pax, the new host of the Trill symbiont she had operated on. He was dashing, and got himself killed for it. His daughter, Tabiana bacame Diane's adopted daughter. Diane had never thought raising a child could be such a chore, or a blessing. Tabiana showed herself to be her fathers daughter in every way, and such a lovely, sweet, caring, intelligent and gifted child.

While on the Wind, and after Pax's death Diane met Commander Paisley Slax, a female joined Trill. Diane had never had the feelings for a woman that Paisley instilled in her. Their romance was nothing short, and after a time, they married, and were posted to Space Station Nexus.
