While most of G-Force is occupied by the sudden reappearance of Godzilla, the terrorist organization known only as "The Red Bamboo" have kidnapped Asagi, the young girl psychically linked with Gamera. G-Force agents Miki Seguesa and her co-worker Yuki are following Asagi's distress call from Letchi Island. A strange fate awates them...
Yuki flew the small G-Force helicopter in very low over the island. Neither of them had seen anything so far. "Are you sure she's here Miki?" Yuki asked. "Yes, I can still hear her calling to me," Miki answered. Yuki looked back to the island and sighed. He pulled a large bag out from under the seat and unzipped it. The bag was filled with assault weapons.
His hand reached into the bag and pulled out a very menacing gun. Yuki pushed the gun towards the passenger next to him but Miki waved it away. "No, I couldn't," she said.
Yuki kept his eyes directly forward. "Take it," he said, "I don't want to have to wind up rescuing you from terrorists a second time."
The psychic girl decided to humor him and clumsily put the gun into her back pocket. Yuki put a revolver into a holster on his ankle, two large pistols into holsters on his hip and chest. A nightstick and tazer found their way into his belt and a large American-made rifle was grabbed by his right hand.
"Yuki, do you see something?"
As an answer Yuki pointed towards a chain link fence far in the distance. The helicopter landed smoothly and the two got out. Yuki kicked open a gate and walked through. Miki followed at a cautious distance.
"Get it ready."
Miki looked up and around. A confused Yuki looked at her curiously. Miki seemed equally confused with Yuki. "Didn't you hear anything just now?" Yuki shook his head. "It was a man's voice. He was over in that direction." She pointed towards a set of bushes.
Figuring Miki had just heard the man's thoughts, Yuki ripped one of the bushes out of the ground. Under it was an air vent. "Let's go," he said.
With Yuki in the lead, the two somehow managed to fit through the narrow opening and metal tube beyond. After a few moments Yuki reached the end of the line. He could clearly see several people working around computer stations through a steel grating.
He whispered to Miki what he saw and pulled his rifle into a ready position. Out of his black combat vest he pulled a faded red bandana which he tied over his head. His heart beat in his chest like a bongo drum, and with a cry of "Bonzai!!!" Yuki thrust his right foot forward and through the grate. Before the nearest men realized what was happening, Yuki's rifle spat forth a fast barrage of bullets. Miki tried to peer around Yuki's body to see what was going on outside the vent.
Just then a Red Bamboo guard shot apart the main wire supporting the thin metal tube the two G-Force agents were in. With a grunt and a scream, Miki and Yuki tumbled out the front of the vent and onto the hard tile floor several feet below. Without missing a beat, Yuki kicked the legs of a metal table and it fell to the ground in front of him, blocking many of the bullets headed his way just in time. The old man rolled onto one knee and began firing his weapon over the top of the upturned table and into several of the white uniformed men. Through all the smoke it was difficult to see very far into the room, but Yuki's fine tuned senses detected vague movement and his fine tuned rifle stopped it.
A quiet clinking noise told the Japanese soldier that a grenade was rolling along the floor in his direction. He yelled Miki's name then grabbed her by one arm and pulled her violently through a nearby doorway.
The grenade's explosion threw the pair far into the stairwell on the other side of the doorway. They rolled a brief distance then stopped.
His rifle ammo gone Yuki tossed the heavy weapon down the stairs and into a group of terrorists coming their way. He then pushed Miki onto her knees, slid his two semi-automatic pistols out of their holsters, and fired multiple rounds up and down the stairs.
Happy to have a weapon of her own, Miki pulled the small semi-automatic weapon out of her pocket and fired down the stairs with none of the grace Yuki possessed. Highly trained terrorists dropped like flies.
The two G-Force agents quickly descended the stairs and rounded a corner. A nearby terrorist didn't see them in time for him to block Yuki's boot as it smashed into his temple.
Miki looked around. "Seems like he was the only one left in this hallway," she said. Yuki nodded and quickly reloaded and holstered his weapons. The rifle returned to his arms, now reloaded.
Then it left his arms again. A hidden terrorist had blasted it with his pistol. Yuki swung his right fist around and shattered the man's jaw with it. He then leapt at the man knocked him to the floor.
The G-Force agent looked back over his shoulder and saw another Red Bamboo soldier charging towards him. A strong thrusting back kick threw the man clear across the room.
He was the last terrorist who would fall that day. A vast amount of Red Bamboo soldiers charged into the room and knocked out Miki and Yuki with tazers.
Within three minutes they had been locked away in a very vulgar cell block.
Miki stood still for a moment, then the sound of her cell door unlocking made her jump and gasp in surprise. Terrorists nudged her outside with the barrel of their pistols, smiling. Miki noticed Yuki was being shown out of his cell in a similar fashion.
The terrorists then snapped handcuffs over the wrists of the two G-Force agents and put guns at their back. Miki inwardly laughed and unlocked Yuki and her handcuffs with telekineses. A young man with a very clean uniform stepped in front of them. "Hachi Minotomi," he said, "At your service."
Yuki scowled at him and leaned forward. Quietly, he said, "Where's the girl?" Hachi laughed in his face. "I'll take you to her. After all, now that your friend Seguesa's here we won't be needing the little Asagi, will we?"
"Then let her go."
Hachi pointed an index finger at Yuki's nose and smiled. "No."
He then nodded at the other guards and the group escorted the two G-Force agents down a series of hallways and into a large, high cielinged room. They stood on a floor of steel grating and far below them was a submarine pen.
An old man with a thin white mustache waved to them and smiled. "Hachi, good for you!" he said. Then turned to Miki. "You know girl, as soon as I heard we had actual G-Force agents in the base I wanted to make sure I met you myself."
"What are you men doing here?" Miki asked. "The Red Bamboo are terrorists without demands. Yesterday your army led a totally unprecedented attack on Tokyo, yet you asked for nothing. What is it you terrorists want to do anyway?"
Now somewhat annoyed, Demargo looked directly at the young woman. "You would say that! Why do call us terrorists at all? We of the Red Bamboo are ourselves stopping terrorism which has plagued Japan for half a century. You cannot remember what life was like before the second world war. Japan was perfect back then! Our country was to be the greatest in the world.
"The Red Bamboo, who you call terrorists, mean to destroy the country's corrupt democracy and then correct the governments of the rest of the world. The societies of Earth are flawed. With the aid of my army and complete control of Japan, we could create an Earth Union Organization. Japan would control everything and everyone. There would be a united government of the entire planet!"
"There would be civil unrest and death. In order for your ideas to work millions would have to die," Yuki snapped at Demargo. The leader of the Red Bamboo grabbed his throat and held it tight. The two men's eyes burned at each other. Finally Demargo released his grip and pushed Yuki forward. "That would be a small price to pay for the end of war."
Miki squinted her eyes and grimaced, "But you can't end war. All throughout history people have rebelled and fought for individuality. If a country's people aren't allowed to make their own decisions, they will rebel. There will most certainly be war. How will you keep people from fighting you?"
Demargo smiled at her. "We have our ways. Our airforce can hold its own against a squadron of jets. My armies are highly trained and very loyal to our cause. But that will not be our main source of attack."
"What do you mean?" asked Yuki. Demargo could not stop smiling, "Perhaps our head scientist, Doctor Shirigami, can explain. Doctor?"
An elderly man in a white lab coat stepped up to Demargo's side. He had a very dark complexion for a Japanese man, dark silver hair, and large brown eyes. Miki's jaw dropped.
"You-You're ALIVE?!" she screamed. Somewhat confused, the man nodded his head and laughed nervously. "But-But you died in nineteen eighty ni-Oh my God." This was incredible.
Because of these terrorists, the EUO would be formed by the twenty third century. Then the rebellious Futurians would go back in time to 1992 where Miki would board KIDS and teleport the Godzillasaurus off Lagos Island. Then he wouldn't become Godzilla until the nineties, and Dr. Shirigami wouldn't be the one who invented the ANEB, and he was never shot, and…
Dear God, Miki thought. What has this man done? He is a terrorist! Dr. Shirigami waited for Miki to regain her senses before he began speaking. "The Red Bamboo's main method of attack is located right here in this submarine room. You two have arrived just in time for the unveiling of the greatest scientific achievement of the century. Beneath these waves lies a one of a kind organism. It has the aggression and body cells of an animal, but the structure and brain capacity of a plant.
"Call this my masterpiece. I call it Angillante. The name is an amalgamation of the dinosaur Angilasaurus and Biollante, the spirit of a plant that appears in Norse Mythology."
Miki felt very sick to her stomach. She knew something that no one else in the room knew. She intended to make her secret known. "But that plant," she said frowning, "has a human spirit."
Demargo's smile faded and he looked at Miki. "What do you mean, human spirit?"
Miki clenched her jaw, "He doesn't care about your stupid plan to rule the world. This Doctor is just insanely trying to keep his daughter Erica alive!" Suddenly very frightened, Doctor Shirigami spoke to her in a shaky voice. "W-What are you talking about girl?"
Miki stood defiant, "Erica died years ago Doctor. It's sad, but her life ended! You can't play God and decide who lives and who dies. What you've done here is wrong!"
"Shut up!" yelled Shirigami. "What do you know about science anyway? I can't lose Erica-she was always everything to me!" The doctor froze, realizing he had given himself away. Demargo turned furious. "You mean she's telling the truth? You bastard!" He began shouting at the other terrorists in the room, "Destroy that hideous thing while you still can! Halt the life support and burn it to the ground!"
Men rushed to obey the orders. Shirigami ran forward, trying to hold them back. "No!" he screamed. "No, my daughter! You'll kill her!" But the men didn't listen. A scientist pulled a switch and all the wires and tubes in the submarine pen stopped dead. The humming that had been in the background ceased completely.
"Erica!" Shirigami screamed. Then dark red liquid exploded out of his chest as a bullet pierced the skin in his back. Demargo held a smoking pistol in his hand, the smile finally returning to his lips.
Yuki knew when to press his advantages, and this distraction was definitely an advantage. With everyone's attention focused on the dying Doctor Shirigami, Yuki jumped forward and nailed Demargo in the chest with a front thrust kick.
The leader of the Red Bamboo was totally unprepared for the attack. The strike's impact lifted him from his feet and tossed him back first over a nearby railing and down into the submarine pen housing no submarine.
Everyone heard the splash as his body fell into the water. A few shots were fired in the direction of the two G-Force agents, but Yuki dove to the floor and pushed Miki down, dodging them. Hachi Minotomi ran towards Yuki, but fast as lightning Yuki swung his legs out and knocked the man down. He then threw Miki off the edge and heard her scream as she tumbled through the air towards the water.
As she fell Miki regained her senses and grabbed onto some of the metal wires that were leading down to the water. Yuki himself rolled off the floor and into free fall. He caught hold of a large bar of steel that was supporting the floor several feet above them.
Miki looked down at the water many feet below. Treading water and coughing was the dazed and angry Demargo.
Then Miki gasped as huge waves and swells arose on the surface of the dark pool of sea water. Demargo looked behind him to see a titanic form slowly rising up out of the water. It had dark purple scales with spots of mottled green. Four mammoth legs were holding the thing aloft and mostly out of the water. Dark black spines protruded from all over the thing's snout, crown, back, and tail.
Green roots were growing out of it and into the water. Or at least they seemed like roots. Moments after emerging from the water, the 87 meter-tall Angillante ripped its tendrils free of their bonds, and everyone in the room saw that each "root" was tipped with a huge green sharp toothed mouth.
Disgusting acidic yellow sap dripped from the teeth of these mouths and hit the water with a sizzle. Just as Demargo screamed in terror one of the tendrils shot in his direction and clamped its thorney fangs shut over his body.
Still screaming, the leader of the Red Bamboo was bodily lifted high into the air, blood dripping from his torso. Then the tendril snapped itself like a whip and the body in its jaws fell silent. The mouth opened only to have Demargo's torn corpse fall free and onto the platform all the other terrorists were standing on. "Boss!" yelled Hachi in terror. He looked down at Demargo, then up at Angillante, then ran to the edge of the floor and jumped off. He grabbed onto the same support beam as Yuki.
He did so just in time too. For right when he jumped another of the monster's tendrils swung at the grated floor piece holding up all the other terrorists in the room, snapped it clean off its moorings, and knocked it into the tank of water. Half a dozen toothed mouths shot into the water and slaughtered terrorists. That gave Yuki an idea. He let go of the support beam with his right hand and pulled out the small revolver he had hidden in his ankle holster. He raised his arm and pointed it at Hachi.
"Have a Special Mr. Minotomi," he said, "on the house." Yuki's hand twitched and a custom-made bullet flew out of the gun and into Hachi's chest. Within seconds the blood congealent contained in the Yuki-Special had put Hachi Minotomi into cardiac arrest. His joints froze up, his muscles locked and ached, and he blacked out before he could even scream.
He fell from his position on the support beam and hit the surface of the water flat on his back. One of Angillante's tendrils wrapped around his body then threw it against the far wall of the room.
The force of the throw was so intense that Hachi's body exploded when it hit its target. Remains splattered more than three dozen feet from the impact. Yuki reached out his free hand and grabbed onto the wires Miki was hanging from. With great difficulty she managed to climb up and grab onto the support beam. Then they pulled themselves through the room's doorway, breathing hard. Yuki pulled himself to his feet very fast. "Asagi!" he cried.
It took them a few minutes to reach her. She was on what looked like an operating table and only half awake. On top of her dark hair was strange metal headgear. Wires were running out from various points on the spacey looking hat and into large computers.
Yuki rushed up to the side of the young teenager. "Bastards," he said, ripping off the device attached to her head and throwing it to the ground. Miki knelt down to the floor and picked it up, suddenly realizing what was going on. "Yuki, this looks just like the helm I wore for the T-Project."
The rugged man nodded. "That must be why they wanted Asagi here, to help them control that spiny thing."
Caressing the device with her fingers, Miki found that the brownish bead Asagi had always worn around her neck had been attached to the "forehead" of the helmet.
Obviously drugged, Asagi took more than a little pushing on Yuki's part to wake up. Finally the G-Force agent picked her up and set her down over his shoulder. "Let's go," he said, and began walking forward.
Shaking her head, Miki put her hand on his shoulder to signal a halt. "We can't just stroll out you know, this place is swarming with terrorists."
Before Yuki could answer, a red lightbulb in a metal cage on the ceiling began flashing. An alarm rang through the halls of the Red Bamboo base.
Suddenly a thunderous voice began echoing out of hundreds of loudspeakers. "Subject Alpha has escaped! I repeat, subject Alpha has escaped! All available personell must report to Submarine Pen Zero immediately for containment procedures!"
"You were saying?" Yuki said, smiling. Using his instinct Yuki carried Asagi and led Miki down a series of halls until they finally found an exit hatch leading to the surface. On their way the group encountered only six terrorists. Yuki judo-chopped them into unconsciousness.
After a long, exhausting run over unfamiliar ground, Yuki, Asagi, and Miki reached the small helicopter that Miki and Yuki had flown to the island in. Moments later they were heading back home to Tokyo.
After twenty minutes of being free, Angillante completely destroyed the Red Bamboo base on Letchi Island and began swimming her way out to sea. In the confusion and suddenness of the situation, nearly 99 percent of the terrorists inhabiting the island had been killed or left for dead. The few hundred who did get away sent news of their situation to the crew of the Gigan. It became the sole desire of the Red Bamboo to search out and destroy the creature who had obliterated all chance of victory. They were to get their chance sooner then later.
