Delta Flyer

The Delta Flyer is an all - purpose shuttlecraft assigned to the U.S.S. Voyager, which is currently trapped in the Delta Quadrant. It was designed to be
used in almost all known environments, including gas giants and oceans. It was constructed in early 2375, when the Voyager crew was pitted against the
Malon in a race to retrieve a multi - spatial probe from the atmosphere
of a gas giant. The Delta Flyer is a combination of Starfleet, Borg, and
Maquis technology. One of the ship's designers, Ensign Tom Paris, even put
some 20th Century design into the ship's control panels. One unique
feature of this super shuttle is its warp nacelles. The two warp
nacelles attached to the sides of the ship are retractable. Also, with Seven of
Nine's help, modified Borg torpedoes were placed in the ship's torpedo
tubes. Although these weapons aren't as powerful as a full sized
Starfleet photon torpedo, they do pack a punch. The Malon found this out
when their version of Voyager's supershuttle was disabled by the Borg weapons.
Other people invloved in this ship's design and construction were Lieutenant Commander
Tuvok, Ensign Harry Kim, Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres, Ensign Vorik, and
Seven of Nine. For a short while, Ensign Paris planned to put tailfins on
the sides of the nacelles. He suggested that this would scare off the
enemy with its fierce design. However, Tuvok rejected his idea. The Delta Flyer is used for many diplomatic and planetary missions, such as collecting food and other materials.
