Synopsis
Tom and Harry are walking through a beatuiful Irish town. They meet the Doctor, who is dressed like a priest, and they enter a nearby building. Once inside, Harry tries to arm wrestle Liem, who hasn't been defeated in three years. No one bets on Harry but The Doctor. After a difficult struggle, Harry is victorious, and the Doctor celebrates. Captain Janeway then walks in, informing her officers that a huge storm is approaching Voyager. They leave the town, which is in the holodeck, and head for Astrometrics.
The senior staff makes plans to secure the ship, since the warp engines are offline, and they can't outrun the storm at impulse. While the crew gets ready to ride out the storm, Janeway returns to the holographic village, which is called Fair Haven. She spends hours talking to the local barkeeper. She finally forces herself to leave when she meets the barkeeper's wife.
Voyager finally encounters the storm. Things are pretty bumpy for the first few minutes, but the crew manages to get rid of the turbulence. They have three days until the storm passes, so the Captain gives Tom and Harry permission to expand Fair Haven to Voyager's other holodeck. She also tells them they can leave the holodecks open for the entire crew, giving everyone the opportunity to visit Fair Haven at least once during the ship's isolation.
When Janeway finally gets off of duty for the day, she heads to the holographic control room, the place where the crew can create and modify all of the holographic programs on the ship. She accesses the barkeeper's file and deletes the wife, and modifies the character to her specifications.
She then goes back to Fair Haven and meets the barkeeper, whose name is Michael. He's everything she wanted him to be. After talking about literature, they take a walk. On the way, they run into Chakotay. Janeway seems embarrassed when Chakotay sees her holographic friend.
Later, Neelix asks Janeway if she wants to come to the bar in Fair Haven for a little get together. She declines his offer, saying she'd rather stick to reality. Neelix seems concerned, but he leaves her alone. When Neelix arrives at the party, the holographic barkeeper starts yelling, wanting to know where Kathryn is. He claims that the two of them are in love.
In sickbay, the Doctor treats several crewmembers who have aquired minor injuries. It seems that the Captain's friend got a little out of hand. Janeway happens to enter sickbay. Everyone stares at her, and the Doctor advises her to follow him. They leave sickbay and walk through Voyager's corridors. The Doctor explains what happens, and Janeway admits that she's fallen in love with him. She's ashamed to admit it, saying that real people shouldn't love projections of light and energy. The Doc tells her that you shouldn't judge someone based on what they are made of, and that she shouldn't feel so ashamed.
After clearing a path with a deflector beam, Voyager glides through the edge of the storm and escapes into open space. It's been three days, and the crew can now continue their journey home. However, they had to reroute power from the holodecks in order to get through the last few kilometers of the storm. This means that ninety percent of Fair Haven was lost. Paris vows to recreate it, but it will take him nearly six or eight weeks to do so. Janeway activates the barkeeper, which wasn't erased. She tells him that she has to leave Fair Haven, but she'll be back one day. The two say their goodbyes, and Janeway deactivates him.

My Thoughts
"Fair Haven" was fun, refreshing, and enjoyable. After Season 5's absolutely dreadful "Disease", Voyager has produced several wonderful romantic episodes within the past year. The first was "Someone to Watch Over Me", and the latest one is this particular show, which featured some terrific acting by the entire cast, especially Kate Mulgrew. We were also treated to an intriguing score by David Bell, his best one since "11:59". The costumes and sets were impressive, as were the special effects. We were treated to several hilarious moments, including Tuvok's problem in the Mess Hall and the Doctor's portrayal as the Irish town's head priest. I really loved his reaction when Tom tried to ship out of town on a permanent retreat. I also liked Harry's arm wrestling match and Seven's game of rings. My Rating : 10.00 out of 10.00 -- NEXT WEEK : I really don't know what to think about next week's episode. I guess the crew encounters a planet that ages incredibly quickly, and in just a matter of days the inhabitants become advanced enough to attempt to destroy Voyager. We'll see how it turns out.
